| MRSA -- in the lungs
I'm still bitter about my mom getting MRSA following a bronchoscopy. She passed (3 yrs ago today) about a mth after the mrsa dx and we were battling small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The cancer dx til death was less than 3 mths total. She was fine, then gone. When her dr first mentioned MRSA he used the long name and kept talking like it meant nothing. I had to stop him, "Wait, what did you just say, metha-what?" He repeated the long word and I asked if he meant MRSA. He said yes and said nothing more about it. I realize SCLC is it's own evil and was likely what took her life. On the other hand, I still can't shake how nonchalant he was and how nobody ever mentioned it again.
Can mrsa of the lung cause a pneumo-thorax? Knowing what it can do to the outside of the body, I would certainly think it could. Nothing can convince me that it wasn't HA but we were never told any details, ever. We weren't even told to be careful when throwing away her used tissues, which I would think would be VERY important.
