| | Salivary gland swelling
Back in 2007 I was diagnosed with the mumps. I had it for well over a month. Afterwards I developed hoarseness that never completely went away. Over the past few years I've had problems with the submandibular gland on the left swelling. I had an x-ray done that showed no blockage or stones. I know that I'm more prone to stones because of high calcium levels. The ENT said that some people just have periodic swelling of their glands! I've had the swelling in the left gland off and on over several years. Sometimes the swelling is on both sides.
Today, I'm having swelling on both sides under my jaw and along my jawline all the way back to next to my ear. I know that the parotid glands lie in that direction. The submandibular under the chin and the sublingual under the tongue. What I want to know is if it's possible to have recurrent episodes of mumps? I had my shots as a child, but I read somewhere that not all of the shots were affective.
Has anyone else gone through this? If so what did it turn out to be? Mumps, an infection or stones? Anything to do that helps with the swelling and pain?
