2WW after IUI

This is my first time posting. DH and myself had our first IUI done on Wednesday Nov 10 and now I have to wait until Wed Nov 24 to find out if worked. I'm afraid to get my hopes up. We have been TTC for 3 1/2 years. DH had a varicocele and I have a tumor on my pituatary gland. I finally got pregnant last year around this time but MC on December 7 at almost 7 weeks. It's been almost a year since my MC and I still can't seem to get over it. I'm looking for someone that has a common problem that I can chat with. These next two weeks are going to be so hard. Here is my profile:

I'm 27
DH 28
TTC 3 1/2 years
MC on December 7, 2003
First cycle on Folllistim
First IUI done on November 10, 2004

I'll be looking forward to hearing for you.

Re: 2WW after IUI

HI kmlow!

I know the feeling about the 2ww. I just finished with af showing
I've had 3 IUI's. The first one failed...2nd one worked but I miscarried at 10 weeks (july '04). I had the 3rd one in oct but just found out that didn't work. I'm starting clomid today and will have my fourth one at the end of this month. I've heard of follitism and am sure that someone here can chat with you about that!
I'm sorry that you still have the hurt of your mc. I am also still hurting and cry at times.
My Dh and I have been ttc for almost 2 years. He has poor morphology.
I pray that your IUI will work this month!
I love these boards because everyone cares
S.

Re: 2WW after IUI

S&J:

Thanks so much for your reply. I really appreciate it. I'm so sorry to hear about your mc's. I tried Clomid for 4 months without IUI. It was prescribed to me by my gyn. He didn't monitor me at all while I was using it and it made my periods very irrigular. My cycles were any were from 20 days to 50 days while using the clomid. I've only used the follistim for one month and I'm praying that it works. Have you ever consider trying Follistim or other injectables? My doctor monitored me almost everyday while using the follistim and within 7 days from starting my af I had 12 follicles, 7 of which were < 14.5mm (which he said that I would ovulate 7 eggs). By day 8 I had the IUI done. My husband has low sperm count and motility because of the varicocele. He had surgery to repair it. Is this normal? I'm experiencing some discomfort since my IUI. I have some discomfort in my abdominal regime. It almost feels like how a bladder infection would feel. Have you ever felt any discomfort after having IUI done?

Re: 2WW after IUI

hi kmlow. I am also in the 2ww, find out on the 19th if it worked. I did an IUI with gonal f. I think gonal f and follistim are the same (both brands of fsh). This is my second round of gonal f with IUI. Had two clomid cycles with IUI as well. No luck so far. It sounds like you really responded well with 7 follicles. You have lots of reasons to be hopeful with all those follicles, I would think! My doc also monitored me very closely while on gonal f. I only had three mature follicles this time around. My doc said he wants to see between 2 & 5 so I guess that was ok. I was hoping for more though. It's stressful. I am 28 years old. We've also been trying for about three years. I have never been pregnant. I am really sorry about your miscarriage. I hope this cycles works for you. I know how stressful it can be going through all this at a time when it seems everyone around you is poppin babies out like crazy. If this doesn't work for us, I think we're doing one more cycle of gonal F with IUI and then we'll move on to IVF. Our issues are that my husband also had a slightly low count, had a varicocele and surgery for that as well. It only improved a little though. But the RE gave us the impression that he wouldn't have recommended the surgery cause his counts weren't that bad to begin, not bad enough that he would think that was the reason we weren't getting pregnant. I had a large fibroid tumor removed in january that they thought was the cause of the infertility. We tried on our own for a few months and then started the treatments. No luck so far. But we'll see.
Well, good luck to you! I hope we both get what we're wishing for!
Stacy

Re: 2WW after IUI

Stacy,
Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize that there were so many couples going through the same thing as my husband and I are. It's a very difficult process. My prayers are with you that you will have good news on the 19th. Even though we've been trying for over three years to conceive, we just recently started seeing a RE. I've been trying to do research on the web. I don't know how many follicles is good or anything like that. My RE said that he wanted to get 3-4 and when he said 7 I just figured that it sounded really good. I'll find out on the 24th. I don't think I'll be getting good news though. I know that's it's only been 5 days since my IUI but something just doesn't feel right. I have discomfort in my lower abdomen. It started about 2 days ago. I really notice it when I relax to urinate or when I'm laying down and sit up. I just feel really sore inside my abdomen. I thought at first that maybe I was getting a bladder infection but I don't have any of the other symptoms. I'm hoping that I don't have OHSS, I just read that you can develop it after treatment with FSH is completed, that it's most pronounced 7-10 days after FSH treatment. I'm not in pain, just discomfort. Well again, best of luck on the on the 19th.

Kelly
