Hello, and a question please

Hello,

This is my first post and I would first like to wish you all the very best of luck.
I am in a bit of a difficult situation and really have no idea where I could go but here. I am 32 and still single. I had infrequent menstration followed by weight gain in my 20s. My RE decided is was PCOS. I was getting prepared to have a baby with doner sperm because I realized time for me may be on the short side and it felt like the right thing to do for me. However, I had had quite some time with no bleed at all (90) days so he drew blood. He then did it again a day later. Today he phoned me into his office to tell me he believes my ovaries are failing. I am devistated just a year ago my FSH was 7 on day 3. Now is is 41 (on about day 90) Does anyone have any suggests or any ideas? I am so crushed and can tell no one.

Re: Hello, and a question please

I'm very sorry to hear of your predicament. I remember how it felt when my RE told me that I had to get pregnant within a year or I would probably not be able to (when I was 30). Unfortunately, I was in the middle of a divorce and it wasn't an option. That was a sad and scary thing.

Now I'm 34, remarried and can't conceive. We've been trying for over a year. I still have hope though. The RE I go to now is positive that it should be able to happen.

Also, we are looking into the possibility of adopting if this won't work out.

I wish that I could give an answer that would clear things up for your condition, but I don't have PCOS, just bad endometriosis.

Best wishes on your future! And much babydust to you!!

Re: Hello, and a question please

Thank you so much for your good wishes. These past 48hrs have been absolute hell. I haven't been so sad since my mother died. So sorry to be depressing. I do hope your RE can help you. Bunches and Bushells of baby dust back to you too. And thank you for being so kind. The funny thing is I can not seem to give up. Whatever drug is out there ... whatever procedure can be done. I am going for it. Again thank you so much... I hope you and your husband get a sweet cuddly healthy baby

Re: Hello, and a question please

Ladytafs - I'm 38 and have high fsh also so i can relate. I recommend getting various RE opinions - different RE's have different protocols (i.e., combinations of meds) aimed at high fsh numbers and PCOS.

I'm also pursuing traditional chinese medicine (herbs, acupuncture and supplements) that have been shown to reduce fsh. I recommend Randine Lewis's book "the infertility cure". There's a whole section on "advanced maternal age" that basically applies for anyone with high fsh. There's also a section on PCOS, i believe.

Depending on how this route goes, you might consider donor embryos. There are a few places in the u.s. that offer this service. And there's also adoption which is an excellent option - you can give a good home to a child in need.

Hang in there & make sure you explore all your options! Good luck & baby dust!

p.s. Just a though on your FSH ... i'd suggest working with your RE to get your cycles back to normal first - maybe your high FSH is a result of not cycling. FSH is the hormone that tries to jumpstart your ovaries. When it's easy to jumpstart them, FSH is low (<10) and fertility is high. When ovaries don't respond as well, FSH increases in the attempt to influence the ovaries. It seems to me that this process could go awry without regular cycles.

Re: Hello, and a question please

Thank you so much sernidipity.... My RE has advised me that doner eggs are an opption .. along with doner sperm....I am concidering that... Adoption is a wonderful thing... but it's not really an opition for me.... I have concidered the thought about my cycles too. I actually just spoke with an accupuncterist who is willing to work with me... she adivised me to wait till I get propper cycle day 3 FSH bloodwork and rule out an chomosomal abnormality which the doc is doing (more bloodwork I AM a little human pincushon). I had one treatment before my diagnosis today .. and it was reeaallllly relaxing... it did aleviate stress... which always helps your body ..... I hope that it works for you...... Tons of baby dust in your direction.... and thank you so much for your help...... It's so nice to speak with people who understand .... It's helping me cope ... Thank you
