irregular periods and acne is this PCOS - Infertility Message Board

I am 27. I was place on BCP at 17 yo b/c of acne and irregular periods. (Before that I had only a tome of 5-6 months where I had regular periods). However I was very skinny (about 95 lbs and 5'6'') so my docs always thought that's why I was so irregular. Over past 10 years tried to stop OCP 3-4 times, each time after 2-3 months broke out horribly so I restarted the pills for my acne (my acne put me into extreme depression). I also have a extremetly stressful job/life. During those months I had periods every 30-33 days. I am still on the pill and went to dermatologist last week that checked free testosterone level- it was normal and DHEAs level was 244 (normal range 70-247). I am so so so scared that when I stop the pill and we TCC that it won't happen and that I'll break out severely and be super depressed. Could this be PCOS? Does this mean I won't be able to conceive? Am I in trouble? What should I do or have my doc check? (by the way my weight is better now 122 lbs but I am afraid to stop the pill)- does this sound like anything any of you have heard of- please help, I am new to this board

Try not to worry. I have PCOS, clinically diagnosed by a fertility specialist. It doesn't mean that you can't conceive, so I've been told. It just means that you have a condition that could make it a bit more challenging. I don't have the problem with acne, but I do get many cysts on my ovaries and my ovulation varies every month, if I even ovulate at all. I have to have insulin levels checked every couple of months as well, because PCOS can affect that. I know it can be frustrating, but maybe there is another explanation for your symptoms other than PCOS. Keep your chin up!
