Question Three Week Period?????

We having been trying for about a year and a half with no luck. About seven months ago I had a lite period. Then nothing for six months. I when to my doc he said I looked like I was going to start any day. Whatever that means. Well I finally started and I just keep going and going. Also I was using tampons and everytime I changed it I passed a large blood clot. I was getting scared. I thought the worst another miscarriage but that was not it. For 26 days I was bleeding. My Doc says I am fine. Has anyone heard of this what could be wrong with me?

Re: Three Week Period?????

I have periods like that myself, only mine happen every month right on time. The longest period I've had was 21 days long, and then 7 days later it all started again. I have huge clots and all that. I too have been trying to get pregnant for about the past year and a half. I've had two miscarriages in that time, but I got pregnant with my first two children in one month with each of them. These strange periods started after I had my first child and got a lot worse after I had my second child. The only thing my doctor said was that I am getting old (I'm 34) and that women's hormones often get more messed up the older they get. How comforting for a 34 year old to hear... I am currently seeing a specialist who is going run a whole bunch of tests on me, so maybe you might want to do the same.

Re: Three Week Period?????

When I was in my 20's I had periods that lasted a long time, just light bleeding, but I think once it went on for over 40 days. My periods were always sort of irregular and even stopped completely for a while. That's when I went to an infertility specialist (we had been trying for years to have a baby). I wasn't ovulating. Having no periods was a sign that I wasn't ovulating; having a period that lasted over 40 days was a sign that I wasn't ovulating. Even the irregular periods showed that I wasn't ovulating. A simple blood test revealed that I had hyperprolactemia and I was prescribed a medicine called Parlodel that is also used for parkinson's disease to lower the level of prolactin. It took about a year--but finally we were expecting our first baby.
