How many rounds of clomid did you try?

I'd read somewhere that 80% of women on clomid get pregnant in the first 3 cycles. I've taken it for 3 rounds and this one was a BFN too. It's pretty disappointing to be investing all of our energy into this medication without positive reward, ya know? I'm just wondering how many rounds you all took before getting pregnant or moving on to something else. Thanks for reading

Re: How many rounds of clomid did you try?

I tried 3 rounds of clomid with IUI and was not successful. Most good doctors will not allow much more than 3 cycles at a time, as there are negative side effects that can happen if you are on Clomid for too long.

Re: How many rounds of clomid did you try?

I was on four cycles of clomid....no luck.....then metformin for 6 months and now clomid with metformin. Currently, awaiting blood test results to see if ovulation occured. Best of luck to you! Clomid is not given for more than 6 months if you ovulate during that time....if it doesn't encourage ovulation in 6 months, my doctor said it is unlikely to.

Re: How many rounds of clomid did you try?

Thanks for all your replies. I appreciate it.

What are some of the problems that come up when one takes too many rounds of clomid? I know of the thining of the uterine lining, but FORTUNATELY that's not been a problem for me. My doc says I have a very healthy lining despite the 3 rounds of clomid. What other things are there that clomid causes?

Re: How many rounds of clomid did you try?

I was on clomid for 6 months. I did get pregnant after the second month, but unfortunately had a miscarriage. I was unable to get pregnant the last 4 tries on clomid. If you are not pregnant in the first 3 months, I would definitely go to something new. Being on clomid for more than the 3 months will start to thin your lining, and make hostile cervical mucus. I also felt awful on the clomid, tired, crabby, and really emotional. That is just my two cents worth

Re: How many rounds of clomid did you try?

Hi,
I have some good news..i got pregnante with my first child after one month of clomid and the same happened again with my second child. Me and my husband were trying for a year before we were put on clomid.
My sister had to increase the doesage of her clomid tablets as nothing happened for 6 months, she was given the highest doesage recommended and after 3 months on the high doesage she got pregante with her first child.
I think that they start you off of 50mg and then move you up to 80mg then finally if this still isn't working they move you up to the max which is 100mg...

I wish everyone the best of luck, I know that clomid doesn't work on everyone.

Re: How many rounds of clomid did you try?

There are people who are put on higher than 100mg of clomid. I think that they recommend you not going higher than 200 or 250 (don't quote me). I was on 50mg for 4 months and then 100mg for 2 months. I did get pregnant on the 50mg...no luck with the higher dosage?
