| Re: Very late ovulation
Hey, guys -
Well, my doctor said that when you ovulate late, it doesn't affect egg quality, etc. She said that you just need to make sure that you're using an OPK and BD'ing the day you surge, the day after, and then every other day from that point on for I think 5 days or something around that. I hadn't heard that before, I thought you were supposed to BD before the surge, too, and that a day or two later, it wouldn't matter (as far as ttc goes). She said that although sperm have been known to live up to 72 hours, it's usually considerably less than that, so starting at the time of the surge is sufficient. Anyway, the point of the story is that you should be using OPK's if you're ovulating irregularly, but the time you ovulate shouldn't affect anything.
I still feel weird, though, because I've read so much online (messing myself up by doing that?) about fertility being affected by late ovulation, and also about having to do it before the surge, that I wonder if my doctor is somewhat "off" or if i just read too much.
Anyway, thanks for your comments, and there you go!
