I was just thinking. I have had 2 IUI's, so far BFN's. My RE says it's ok to go about normal business, etc. day of the IUI, as long as you lay there for 15 minutes afterwards. My first IUI, I went right back to work (and my job is crazy, running around all day, stressful). My second happened to be on my day off, and I went home and slept, watched tv, etc. I would really love to be able to take the day for each IUI, but my job is such that I just can't take the day off with only 2 days notice (because I'm usually told I'm ready for trigger, then IUI in 2 days) and I always work 5 days a week, sometimes Saturday. I was just wondering what other people's RE's are telling them and what everyone else is doing on the day of their IUI's. It seems like taking it easy would be the best idea...(sigh)...
I had a total of 7 IUI's before we finally hit success. With all of them my RE told me that I could resume normal activities after we had the initial rest period in the office. I chose to take the day off and rest, then return to work the next day. Since I am in healthcare, I work 3-12 hour shifts per week, so I pretty much knew about the time that I would have the IUI. I would just schedule my week to give me a 3 or 4 day stretch off. If it happened to fall on a day that I did have to work, I am fortunate enough to have a boss who was very flexible and would reschedule my day, as well as a group of coworkers who would swap a shift. I feel like it is important to go home and rest, as well as BD. The last IUI (which worked), I found out that my grandmother was actively dying (she was out of town). This was 1 hour prior to the procedure. We decided to go home and rest the remainder of the day, then travelled the next to see her. She died a few days later, and during that time I did not think of fertility issues much. She rubbed my belly on her death bed. We found out a couple of days after we returned home from the funeral that we were pg. It was very bittersweet, but she has watched me and protected me from day one. Sorry to blabber on, I still get emotional when I think of her and the fact that I never got to see her interact with my son.
My Sister is starting her 2ww today with her third IUI. The others BFN, both she rested for a day or two. THis time she is doing acupuncture, had a treatment this morning, and then is in doing her IUI as I type. Janice will take off today, then Saturday and Sunday of course, maybe Monday - not too sure. I think she will be going for another acupuncture treatment Monday too.
I was told basically the same... Lay 15 min right afterwards and then you're free to go about with normal activity. I have to work 8-5 Mon-Friday, and even though my boss lets me off for appts. I still have to keep up with all my work!
I have 3 IUIs all BFNs.. 1st time I did everything the same... 2nd time I took the afternoon off work and cut back on my working out... 3rd time took the day off work and only exercised by walking... Unfortunately it doesn't seem to matter what I do!! Looks like my next IUI (and final) will fall on a Saturday so I get a little extra time off that way... Hope and wait to see!
I Just had my 2nd IUI and i took the rest of the day off as well. My Dr. Had me lay there for 15 minutes also. My First IUI i had no Cramping at all. But this time i did. It has been 4 days now, and i still have some cramping. I just wonder if it is normal to still feel this way. By the way, i am new here. The last Forum i went to. No one would answer my questions. So i am hopeing it will be differant here. Thanks.
hmmm.. ive heard cramping after iuis before from a few women.. it can be from ovulation.. but i would call my re just for some reassurance hope everything is ok, but i wouldnt worry to much unless the cramping gets bad..
Hi, I get to test on the 10th and my cramping from my IUI finally stopped. So we are looking at a good week of cramping, I called my RE and he said it was normal, it could be too many different things for him to solidify exactly what it is. He just told me to relax and try to lay low for the rest of my 2ww.
My doctor makes me lay on the table for 15 minutes post IUI. I went back to work after the first one, but decided I wouldn't do that again. I work at a very stressful job dealing with the public all day and my doctor told me to avoid stress post IUI. I made the decision that I wanted this baby too much to take any risks. My boss has been very understanding and let me take the whole day off last week for my second IUI. It worries me because I am using up my flex time, but it is the most important thing in my life right now. Baby dust!
I was thinking it was implantation also. I don't want to get my hope's up though. It has been 3 yrs, since we started this process, and i am really hopeing this is it. I test on the 16th. Last time AF showed the day before. I really hope it works this time. Wish me luck. .
