I am currently on my first cycle of clomid (100 mg days 5-9). I had hypothalamic amenorrhea with multicystic ovaries so in order to induce AF before the clomid, I had to be treated with estrogen + progesterone. Because clomid sometimes doesn't work for women with my condition I am a bit anxious to see if it is going to make me ovulate. I have been using a clearplan fertility monitor and cheapie OPKs. Here's my question.
The fertility monitor said this:
CD6 low fertility
CD7 high fertility
CD8 high fertility
CD9 high fertility
CD10 high fertility
The OPKs only have 1 line (only the control, there is essentially no test line). Is this normal? I'm scared I'm not producing any LH and that makes me worried.
I know the fertility monitor detected an increase in estrogen because it went from low to high fertility so does that mean the clomid is working even if the OPKs give NO test line? I also know it is normal to see many high fertility days with the monitor while on clomid because of increased estrogen. My thought is, if I'm producing estrogen, I'm making eggs, right? Should I rest assured that clomid is doing its job. I had very little side effects. The only other indication I have is some EWCM (which I did not have during my amenorrhea). Thanks.
BTW: my condition was probably caused by an eating disorder which has since been corrected. I increased my BMI from 18.9 to 20.6 (weight from 108 to 120). Maybe it helped?
While I was on clomid my last cycle of IUI, I was also using the monitor and I got high days right away as well, but until you get a surge on a opk stick don't pay attention to the monitor. sure enough i had the high days on the monitor but then got a positive on the OPK around the time that i would normally. Using the monitor while using clomid ( fertility drugs )are not recommended per the instructions.
I hope that this is your month! Hugs
I believe that with God's help, all things are possible.
I had also used the monitor while on clomid. My doctor said not to trust the monitor or the opk's becasue they can give you false positives. He recommoned the ov-watch. Has anyone heard of this. www.ovwatch.com
I bought one and am waiting to start using it next week.
I agree ----my RE also told me NOT to use OPK or fertility monitor as they are not always accurate. To find out if you are surging my RE would do a blood test on day 21 of my cycle. If you have not done this you may want to ask your RE to do it for your next cycle. I am assuming that you are seeing an RE, if your not you may want to be evaluated by one. They have the latest info and tx's in infertility. Good luck!!!
Hi, I bought the OV-WATCH and used it for the first time last month. It's pretty easy to use, just wear it every night. It will tell you fertile days 1,2,3,4 then ovulation days 1 and 2. I timed my IUI according to it but unfortunately AF came today.
I'm in a similar situation. My doctor told me to use the monitor even though I'll be on Clomid. My last pill will be on CD7 and the monitor probably won't ask me for a stick until CD10. I plan to use OPK's in addition to the monitor. Hopefully I'll get a +OPK around the same day that the monitor indicates peak fertility. Good luck!!!
