Estrogen levels

I am trying to figure out what a good estrogen level is supposed to be. I just had bloodwork done today after being on injections for 4 days. I have 3 follicles- 15mm, 10mm, 9.5mm. My estrogen is 141. I feel like this is way low?????? Any thoughts or experiences with estrogen levels.

Cmarie

I'm not sure but I am starting my second cycle tomorrow so when I go for my baseline I will ask. I don't remember what my levels were. Are you using gonal?

Re: Estrogen levels

Hi Hopeful,
Thanks for the response. I am on Follistim. Good luck at your baseline.

Re: Estrogen levels

Estrogen levels usually correspond with the maturity of your follicles. My RE says estrogen should be between 150-300 for each mature follicle. So, you still got time. I looked back through my previous levels and I was anywhere from 131 to 463 on the same day you're at. My last cycle, it was 195 on the same day (after 4 days injections)...and that's the cycle I got BFP. So I think you're ok! Good luck.

Re: Estrogen levels

Heyknack- Thanks SO MUCH for the info!!!! That made me feel so much better Will you refresh my memory. I know you did injections of Gonal and one other injection along with the trigger. Can you tell me how it all played out. How many follies did you end up having and all that fun stuff

Re: Estrogen levels

cmarie,
i also had low estrogen levels and my follicles were a little bigger, i think 16 and 2 15's. i was worried too, because the nurse told me it should be as heyknack said, about 150 per mature follicle. My estrogen never really got beyond 350 i think. BUT, she did try to ease my concerns by telling me that while taking Antagon (ganirelix)- which is an injection to prevent premature ovulation, it lowers your estrogen levels. So she said that my estrogen numbers really aren't a good indicator since i had taken 3 nights of the antagon injection.
if it makes you feel any better, this was the cycle i got a BFP. i was sure it was going to be a bust, but... So, i think as long as the follicles are growing, you're okay. When I get the callback for my numbers, i'm always persistent in asking, "are those okay? are they where they should be?" Somemtimes I just get the answer that they're "fine" and i hate that because i'd rather hear that they're "good" or "great". express your concerns with the nurse or your RE next time you get an update. maybe they'll give you some peace of mind. keep us posted!

Re: Estrogen levels

Cmarie--Glad that helped. I always was analyzing everything, so I have all my hormone levels and follie sizes kept in 2 different files on the computer. I'm such a nerd. So anyway, here's how my last cycle went that I got the BFP on...

On day 7 (after 4 days of 150 U of Gonal-F in evenings), my estrogen was as stated at 195, uterine lining at 6.8mm, and I had lots of small follies, but 4 significant ones: 3 on my left ovary at 10, 12, 12mm and 1 on my right at 12mm. I was told to continue Gonal-F and start Cetrotide (keeps me from ovulating).

On day 10, estrogen at 530, uterine lining at 7.4 or 7.6mm, 5 follies: 3 on my left at 12.4, 17.6, 18.5mm and 2 on my right at 14.1 and 10.6mm. Was told to trigger tonight and IUI scheduled for day 12, November 8, 2006.

The rest is history! I had my first very faint BFP 11dpiui, which got darker each day. My first beta on 13 dpiui was 100.8.

If you need more numbers or details, I certainly have more, LOL. But I tried to keep this shorter, believe it or not.

I'm really pulling for you this cycle, I hope this is THE ONE. Sending you lots of baby dust!
