Egg Production and FSH/BCP - Infertility Message Board

Hi everyone,

Well if you read my other post you know my cycle was once again a no go.
I had some questions.... ofcourse on time of everything else, my RE is on vacation until next week and wanted to see if you guys can help me out.

1. Is it true that whatever amount of eggs/follies you make each cycle at CD3 is all you have with no potential of making any more that cycle?? A nurse told me that today but I thought that in IVF they can help you produce more eggs with the increase in medications. Has anyone had poor egg production and with increased meds able to increase their production? If so, can you please tell me your tx regimen.

2. Has anyone noticed that when put on BCP their FSH #'s tend to be higher than any other time when they are not on BCP?

3. Does anyone think that being on the pill for an extra week or more can cause your FSH to rise?? My FSH was on high 2x and both when on BCP.

I can't answer the last two questions, but it is definitely possible to have more eggs than show up on CD3. I was so disappointed on CD3 I had just a few buds or whatever they call them.. but by the time of retrieval the same cycle I had 13. Yes egg amount can be increased with meds, and also they can continue to pop up right until the last minute. I remember I had 11 one visit, and then suddenly two more out of nowhere it seemed like. Don't let those early number of eggs scare you.. they did me and I thought of calling off the cycle because I thought they weren't enough but it turned out to be my lucky cycle that I conceived on. Those early numbers are only an indication..and it very well may end up way OVER what they expect based on that early u/s.

Thanks twinmommy! You give me hope. So far I have never had more than 7 follies. This cycle being my frist with 7 but XL due to high FSH. So I am hoping next month will be better. Thanks again for you response. COngrats on your twins your story is the kind that makes me not want to give up
