Hello ladies, I had my day 10 scan today to see what progress i am making this month. History is just had first lot of clomid, 50 dose from day 2 to 6, and the dr said he can see one follicle on my left side measuring 9mm. As I am only on day 10 and usually O anywhere between day 14 to 16 or nearabouts, is this what I would have expected to see for day 10? Is it normal to see only one small folly at day 10, does it just mean I am not so close to Ovulating yet? and I need a few more days to see something bigger.
He said he would usually like to see a bigger follicle and thicker lining at this stage of the cycle but maybe it is just my body and/or clomid. Would should I expect to see and wouldn't the clomid make a difference?
Today is Wed, I am having blood tests for hormones on Frid and Mon and then back to see him Tuesday morn for another scan, hopefully I haven't O by then because I really want to have the iui done. But I was wondering if the scan shows I am Ovulating then, would I have the iui done right away or would it be too late. What do you ladies think?
Mariella, I'm really sorry I can't answer your questions. Are you sure there was just one follie or was it that there was just one measurable follie? If there were also smaller ones, then there is a good chance they will catch up to the bigger one, and you might have more than one come O time.
50mg is a low dose of clomid, so it is also possible that your body didn't respond to it. With 50mg of clomid, I only produced 2 mature follies. Maybe you need a higher dose?
Also, if he is not happy with your lining, is he giving you any kind of progesterone supplements? Maybe you should try a different drug as clomid can thin the lining. I believe femara works similar to clomid, but without the side effects.

I would just like to echo what Holly said about the clomid. I am only 27 and have been put on 100mg of clomid each time. My specialist explained yesterday that if I were older he would put me on a higher dose as the older you get the more you need to get a response from your body. Perhaps you could ask to have your dose increased to 100mg. In saying that, my girlfriend who is 33 was only on 50mg and fell pregnant on it twice. I hope you don't mind me mentioning the age thing, I'm just trying to be realistic. Also, when I asked about it thinning the uterine lining he said he wasn't too worried about that and that it was quite safe for me to have another three months worth.
Thank you ladies, no I don't mind at all referring to my age, as I am 40 soon and I am aware that could well be a contributing factor to me not conceiving. Maybe we can up the dose of clomid for next month, but I was just wondering about the follicles and I would imagine by next week when I have a scan again and am closer to O I will see a clearer picture of whats happening.
