Hi girls,
for all of you in 2WW I read something very interesting about the progesterone level being able to predict the outcome of IUI/IVF.
It is not 100 %, but this study says that in most cases a progesterone level >45 nM means viable pregnancy.
I am going to measure it on day 7. I hope it's ok, but even if not, at least I get an early warning and can prepare myself...
Good luck and have a great weekend,
Ivana
Hi Ivana!
I've never heard that before, but that is definitely very interesting! I had my progesterone level checked last cycle on day 21, and it was 25, but it ended with a BFN. So there could definitely be something to that! Good luck on your 2ww!
Interesting, but not conclusive - my progesterone was around 35 with my fresh cycle IVF and I delivered a healthy baby boy from it. And a frozen cycle is entirely different b/c your body isn't making it natually, all of your progesterone is supplemented until about week 10 when the placenta starts to kick in. I'm now 10W5D with my frozen cycle and my progesterone has never been above 32, but everything is going great.
I know that progesterone is one topic that IVF ladies tend to freak out about, so while this is interesting, I just don't want anyone to think that if their progesterone is lower than 45 that their pregnancy is doomed.
I just wanted to let anyone know who gets a progesterone back that's low, that when I had my first beta hcg, my hcg was great and my progesteron was only 8.4!!! I went on to have more supplementation with progesterone because my hcg was more than doubling. The supplements worked. I am 16 weeks pregnant with twins. The placentas are doing the job now. So try not to worry too much if your progesterone is low. If you later find out you are pregnant and it's still low, ask for some supplementation. Mine was in the form of suppositories and prometrium (oral).
Best of luck ladies!
Stacy
just so nobody gets scared reading this post, now looking back I wouldn't read too much into progesterone level alone and the study probably refers to testing on day 14 dpo.
I recenly found out I am pregnant and my progesterone was 41 at 7dpo and 99 at 14dpo.
In any case, I understand supplements solve most of the problems related to low levels regardless the initial lab result.
