??? Letrozole

QUESTION:

Has anyone here used Letrozole?

AND, do you have to do an IUI with this type of treatment?

The reason I ask is b/c my RE is OON (out of network) for infertility TREATMENT. She can diagnose infertility, but no treatment. If there's not an RE that I can find that is "in network", we won't be able to afford the IUI... Which means, I won't be able to get the IUI's... It seems like I've heard of ladies using clomid and letrozole w/o doing IUIs... Am I mistaken?

Any info would be GREAT!

Thanks everybody

Chelsey

Re: ??? Letrozole

I've taken both Letrozole and Clomid and I've never had an IUI, just old-fashioned BD! My OB/GYN prescribed both to me, but now is sending me to an RE because I didn't ovulate at all w/ Clomid, and supposedly didn't ovulate on Letrozole this last month, although I think I did O, but very late. So, we'll see. I will probably be put on injectables (Follistim) and also just BD with the RE. Hope this info helps!

Re: ??? Letrozole

Thanks! That is good to know. I'm going to see if I can get on follistim too. That way I know that I am producing mature eggs.

Re: ??? Letrozole

Hello,

My RE put me on Letrozole initially, it is supposed to be better than Clomid as far as not messing with your CM and altering your hormones as much (which sometimes can trick you into not producing enough of certain ones)

However, I did not have a good response to it, only had one good follicule and I O'd later in my cycle than normal (around day 18 instead of 14) but I supppose different people respond differently. My RE told us we could do Letrozole and BD on own. But, the next month, he switched us back to CLomid and we had to do IUI with Clomid because of the mucus issues.

Hope that helps, and best of luck to you
