Varicocele repair? - Infertility Message Board

Hi my DH is meeting with the Urologist June 2nd. Were hoping he can get the Varicocele surgery. Does anyone have any success stories of conceiving after varicocele surgery? Thank you

Hello... my DH had a variocele repaired back in September 06. His count before the surgery was 6.8mil/ml and his morphology was 4%. We had to wait 3 LONG months for a repeat sperm analysis. We went in the end of December of 06 for the repeat and found out the results in Jan of 07. His count went up to 114mil/ml and his morphology went up to 11%. His doctor was VERY VERY happy with the results. We went back to the RE and started timed BD (I have PCOS so we had me ovulating more regularly by this point with Metformin). The month before we were going to move on to ovulating meds and possibly IUIs, I found out I was pregnant! That was March 07. So the 5th month after surgery we conceived on our own!! We now have a beautiful 6 month old baby girl. I hope that you have as good if not better results with the surgery!! Good luck to you and your DH!!!

Sorry it took me so long to write back I couldn't find this forum at first. We went to the Urologist and he wants us to follow the RE instructions and have DH take Clomid for 3 months. If that doesn't work after 3 months he'll have the surgery. I am so diappointed. I hope the CLomid works. Were going to keep trying during the next 3 months. That is awesome that you conceived naturally after the surgery. Thank you for the success story
