good infertility doctors in minneapolis? - Infertility Message Board

this is for any of you from the minneapolis area that see infertility doctors. i need some help...

okay, so it was pretty much determined that my infertilty is from me having a septate uterus, and i was sent (by referral) to this doctor at park nicollet in st. louis park so he could perform a hysteroscopy. first i had to see him just to talk to him though. the man was so verbally abusive to me that i left crying, and he wouldn't even talk about my condition when i was there. the only time the uterus problem was brought up was when he asked me what my other doctor's diagnosis was, so i told him that the other guy thought it was actually a bicorn, and then i mentioned i had some laporoscopy photos of my uterus that he could look at to see. he started yelling at me then and saying that i didn't have a medical degree so i shouldn't be telling him about my condition since i "didn't know anything about it". all i had done was answer his question, and i wasn't being "mouthy" or anything. then he decided to talk about my endometriosis instead, which i hadn't gone to him for at all, and he put me on new medicine, despite the fact that i had just just just been put on new pills a month before. (the new ones were even on the way via at-home delivery) when i told him that the other doctor was dealing my possible return of endo and asked about my uterus again, he left the room saying "i can't do more than one thing at a time!!" i hadn't even gone to him for my endo! but anyway, he refused to make a followup appointment with me because he claims the ultrasound chart didn't get sent to him and this is apparently my fault (the woman that performed the ultrasound told me she had sent it and i didn't have to worry about anything). ... so basically i've decided that i'm never going back to this guy again, no matter what. i even told the receptionist about how he treated me and she said he treats all his patients like that but apparently he's still got his job. he's been in practice like 35 years.

so that's why i'm here... i'm wondering if anyone on this board from the cities knows of any good infertility doctors that perform hysteroscopies and have been doing it for awhile. i'd like to have a baby in the next 3 years, and i figure getting all of this treated early while i still have health insurance would probably be in my best interests. does anyone have any recommendations?

Mousie......i donot have an answer to your problem but i am totally sympathetic with you for having to deal with such a Doctor.That is just disgusting.You can check the internet for a doctor around your locality or call your insurance company to provide you with a list.Recently i went to a new RE for consultation and i looked up the list provided by PHCS by our insurance company and found my doctor.I got every info. about my doc though didnot have any clue about his behaviour.Fortunately he turned out to be a wonderful doc and he patiently listened and answered to all my questions untill i was fully satisfied.U can talk to your obgyn and ask for another reference.
Hope you find a good Doctor soon.

I am sorry that I do not live near you but I am also sorry that you had to take such abuse. What an a--!!! I am glad that you are seeking another Dr. Noone should have to take the crap that you did. I am thinking about going to another RE that I would have to pay for since they are not covered under my ins. because I don't like the way my RE treats me. i think some drs treat patients badly because they know they have no other option sometimes. like this guy... he knows he's one of the best and they probably won't fire him, grr.

Hey Mousie,

I'm in the Minneapolis area too. I wish I could give you my email or phone number or something so we could get together and chat....

Anyways..... My friend went to Reproductive Medicine & Infertility Associates (RMIA) in St. Paul. They have since moved to Woodbury. She LOVED them. She ended up doing all kinds of tests and procedures and really liked the dr. She got pregnant on her 3rd round of IUI/Injectables and has a beautiful baby girl. I know they also have an In vitro program where you pay a set fee (12-15K) and you get 3 tries. If you do not have a live birth after 3 cycles, you get a high percentage (I think 80%) back to try adoption. If my treatments are unsuccessful, I'll be calling them for in vitro.

I don't know if this helps or not. I have an HMO that I don't overly like, but they cover 80% of my meds and infertility treatments, so I'll stay with them as long as I can
