Post 1st u/s with Gonal-f day 7 how big do follicles get?

I am going in on Day 7 of cycle for u/s and bloodwork. What range should follies be at this point? Just curious.
Mindoo: I ovulate usually day 17 like yourself.. being on gonal-f and all...does this up the O process quicker???
Anyone know if itll be around same time as usual ovulation peak??or sooner???When do the follicles actually start measuring 17mm or more? Is it around day 14 or higher??or sooner/?? thanks all!! I am getting anxious..I already feel like I am ovulating with this gonal=f..I feel twinges....that is normal right????

On CD 7, mine were around 8-9 mm. The RE said that it was normal.

Never did Gonal - I did Repronex .
If you are doing IUI with injectables you O when the doc tells ya . The HCG shot you take is suposed to trigger ovulatio n . My RE always wanted to wait till lining was right + follies were big enough.

Good luck !

When I took Gonal-F my RE monitored the size closely, they also should be taking blood to monitor your LH levels which would tell him when you are close to O'ing on your own. My LH did get high a few times and I took shots of Antagon to keep my body from O'ing naturally and then when my follicles were ready I took the HCG shot of Pregnyl to ovulate. As for size I think it varies with the doctor because I've heard of some people have follicles 20mm(+) but my RE considers them mature at 14.5mm and I think the biggest I've ever had was 17. Every women is so different in how she responds so be sure not to get discouraged and keep thinking those positive thoughts, it worked for me. Sending lots of positive growing vibes your way.

Best of Luck

I cannot remember my first US on Gonal F. It is all kinda blur. I was so upset about not reacting to Clomid at all, when they said I had one follicle I was happy.

My follicle never made it above 14mm and I had an IUI and it worked... I am 6w5d

Hi AMS37,

I am on CD7 today and doing an IUI with Gonal-F also. I went in yesterday for an u/s and I had one at 14mm and then some at 10 and 9. Because I had one at 14 I also started taking a shot of cetrotide and repronex along with the gonal. My doc usually lets them get to about 18 & 20 and then does the insemination. He thinks my insemination will probably be this Wed or Fri. Good luck with yours!

Anne,
I've never been on anything buy clomid so I can't answer your question. Good Luck! If you are being closely monitored, then I guess you'll find out soon. I hope they find a lot follies!

Anne,

I don't remember what my follie sizes were on day 7 of gonal-f, but I do know that I got my hcg shot on day 10 and I had one follie at 22, one at 20 and a bunch of smaller ones, the smallest measurable was 12. I know I started u/s after 5 days of gonal-f and they continued daily until the re decided to do the shot. The sizes slowly crept up on days 5-8, but it seemed like the follies grew tremendously in the last 2 days, so don't worry if your numbers seem to be small tomorrow. Of course, the timing of the hcg shot also depends on your bloodwork. My RE told me I needed to have at least one follie at 15 or so in order to have a viable cycle. Hope that helps.

Hi Anne! I don't remember either, but the general concensus is 14 or higher! Don't fret my dear if they aren't that big tomorrow! That is why they monitor you - to see if you need to take more drugs and stuff!
YAY! Let us know how it goes!

You probably won't have your dosage upped, sounds like you're progressing well on your own. Sounds like everything's going well so far!
