New member - 1st IUI - Infertility Message Board

Hello everyone!

This is my first time posting to this board, but have been reading posts for quite a while now. It’s so great to see how supportive everyone is of each other.

Here is a little background info... My DH and I have been married 14 years (15 next month) and have been trying to conceive for 14 months with no luck. A couple of months ago we decided to have some tests done, i.e., endometrial biopsy, HSG, post coidal, and semen analysis. Everything came back fine except the post coidal. It appears that none of DH’s sperm is able to survive in my cervical mucus. My OBGYN recommended that I should try IUI in order to bypass the hostile cervical mucus.

Well... today was the big day for my first IUI. It went relatively well considering that both with the endometrial biopsy and HSG, the doctor was having a difficult time inserting the catheter, which gave me quite a bit of discomfort. Today on the other hand, it seemed to go rather smoothly and I could barely feel it. Of course we are hoping that it took this first time around, but will try not to get my hopes up to high. Now the 2ww begins.

Welcome to the boards! Here's hoping for a quick and painless 2WW and lots more hope that your IUI did the trick with bypassing all that hostility.

Welcome to the board I like you am new here as well. I just had my first IUI last month but unfortunately it didn't work. I am hoping to have better luck this month. The hardest part was the two week wait after the IUI.

I am really hoping to have things work out for me in the next two months as I am using donor sperm and each unit is $280 plus a nursing fee of $100 for the insemination so it can get quite costly.

I am on my second month of clomid because my cycles are out of whack. It seemed to do the trick last month hoping this month won't be any different except that I will have a positive reading on my pg test. LOL

I guess we are all hoping the same thing. I wish you luck and hope to talk to you on the board. Baby Dust.

Hi Newbie! I'm new myself really... but good luck in your 2ww - it's the hardest bit I think. I had my IUI done last month and unfortunately it didn't work out. I was reading about the tests you had done which I didn't - just jumped straight for the laparoscopy!I'm taking Chlomid(50) for 5 days now and going back to the clinic on 17.7 so I hope I that my second IUI can go ahead.
