Clomid Question - Infertility Message Board

Hi Everyone, I am new to this board and am hoping for some feedback: I am 37 (38 in November), married, and went off depo provera just shy of 2 years ago. I have never been pregnant, and am a bit surprised that it hasn't happened yet. Our health insurance is lame with regard to diagnosis and treatment of infertility, so my doctor has agreed to just put me on clomid (50mg days 5-9), Estradoil (day 10-13 1.5 mg twice per day) and Prochieve ( begin day 17). We are having the semen analysis done this Monday, and I am to begin the Clomid on Tuesday. Insurance won't cover HSG, ultrasound, etc...so are we jumping the gun a bit going to the Clomid? My cycles are incredibly regular and I have signs that I do ovulate, I guess my ovaries just need some coaxing? Any danger in going with the clomid - aside from the mood swings I have heard about and am not looking forward to? I quit my job in February (was not comfortable working with chemicals while trying to conceive) and have since just been hanging around the house living stress-free and trying to get pregnant. Husband is 8 years younger and has proven himself to be fertile with a past girlfriend. This is starting to get tough and not sure I want to go through the treatment - Is it always a long road for girls like us, or do some end up pregnant right away using treatments? I am not a clomid expert but you may want to check out the "clomid vs. repronex" string. You might find some valuable information in those posts.

actually it's called "repronex after clomid"

Sure, sometimes Clomid works right away, which is why doctors begin with it. I took it three times and never had any side effects, so everyone responds differently.

The HSG is an important test because if your tubes are blocked, there's no way Clomid is going to work. If your doctor is willing to proceed anyway though, it's probably worth a shot. Your body may just need some coaxing!

Also, you can buy an over-the-counter ovulation predictor kit if you ever have any doubt you're ovulating.

Hello!

I took Clomid 50 and had no side effects,but I think with 100 dose you might experience all sorts... specially being moody, but you might not.

If you don't know if your tubes are blocked or not, I believe they a few rounds and if it doesn't work it's good to have it done. I can only get pg if I ovulate fro the left ovary as my right one id pernamently damaged...

Clomid might help you to achive have more eggs then 'just' one (it didn't work with me) so higher chance!
