PROVERA BEFORE IVF? Day 21 no OVulate?ivf q's? - Infertility Message Board

Me again. My nurse called the other day to confirm that I indeed have a size 19 follie on my right side that I have not yet ovulated as of day 21! She started me on the Lupron anyway (10 units) and a pill for 10 days called Provera. This is supposed to "fake my system out" to make it think I have ovulated... I am a bit confused. I also have questions on IVF and some of the medications. Anyone who can help?

Hi SLH - I'm sorry I can't help you with your question, but I did notice you mentioned that your dr prescribed a drug called "Provera" which is the same drug my dr wants to start me on, to stop my spotting (now going on weeks without stopping). Is Provera the same as Depo Provera, which I think is a birth control-type pill?? Is Provera a synthetic progesterone? Finally, do you know of any harmful side effects of Provera?

I don't believe Provera and Depro-Provera are the same things. I did notice another member that has used Provera before. She may have more insight on the differences. The member name is HoneyMooner.
