My DH and I have been trying for over 1 year now.. we found out it was him, low sperm, low motility. After 2 failed IUI's, we just underwent our first IVF. I was on Lupron and 2 Amps of Gonal F. Things went too well. By my 3rd u/s, I had 48 follicules over 10 mm. I was in pain! My RE wanted to cancel the cycle because I was at high risk for OHSS. We agreed to go ahead with the retrieval, I gave myself the HCG shot and 2 days later we did the retrieval. They retrieved 32 eggs!! The next day, my RE's nurse called to tell me 28 had fertilized!!! I was so happy. It took me a whole week before I felt normal again. I am now taking Estrace to prepare myself for my FET. I have an ultrasound scheduled for 9/18 to check the thickness of my uterine lining. Has anyone else had to go through this where an IVF retrieval was done but then the embryos were immediately frozen? I am wondering what the success rate is? I am so glad there is a board that I can read that deals with things I am going through. My best friend at work who is older than me got pregnant on the 2nd try.. it is so hard!!

Great responce! Wow!!, 48 with 28 fertilization is great! Seems like they would have done a fresh cycle and frozen the rest. But, FET has comprable rates to fresh. Did all 28 reach blast? if so, I would talk to your RE about your concerns. I had 24, so I have all of the rest frozen for future FET.

Hi Dianna - thanks for the info! You had a great response too! They froze them all on Day 3 so I don't think any made it to the blast stage. When I spoke to the embryologist she said they were 4-8 cells at the time.. Did you FET work? I am hopeful it will work the first time but I guess I have a few embryos to use if it doesn't..

Of my 24 eggs, 23 contained eggs. See, not all follicles contain eggs. REs say that the average is 2/3 contain eggs. They implanted 3 5 day blasts. The rest were frozen, as they reached grade A blasts. DH and I will use them for the future, as IVF#1 worked! GL with your FET!!!
