irregular, abnormal periods - Infertility Message Board

My periods are really irregular, i spot for two weeks then my period comes heavy lasts for a week then about 3 days later now i am spotting once more, also i only have on ovary for they removed a cyst and my right ovary was crushed so they removedit does anyone have any ideas? or suggestions i would really appreciate it.

Hi there - I also have irregular periods and have bled for up to 4-5 months daily before the dr put me on the BCP to control it. I believe I have a hormonal balance and it sounds like you do too .. currently, I am taking progesterone (Provera) for 10 days and last time - that did the trick. After what seemed like a normal period (7 days, regukar flow) the bleeding stop - and the started again 2 weeks later (so I am on round 2). I don't know the complete science behind it, but the Provera is supposed to help my lining thicken properly and not "shed" continuously which is why I have this non-stop period. I am desperate to conceive for the first time and read somewhere that you can take progesterone to get a "normal" period and then clomid to assist with the ovulation part. I hope it works! That is what my doctor did to me. I was on Depo Provera birth control for 5 years. I was given Progesterone to kick start my periods and then given Clomid. It probably would have worked but I was scared to take Clomid so I took it for one month and stopped. I ended up conceiving on my own 3 months later anyways.
