2nd Failed IVF.....SO FRUSTRATED - Infertility Message Board

Hi Ladies,
I got the call a few minutes ago that this IVF attempt was unsuccessful.

I was not surprised because I took a pregnancy test on day 8 or 9 and it was negative. This is so frustrating because no one can give me a reason why!

I respond well to the meds, my dh has great sperm, I have a high percentage of fertilized eggs 75%, I have no pre-exisiting reproductive issues, I am healthy, I don't smoke or drink, I eat well and take my vitamins.
When the first one failed the doctor could offer absolutely no reason for the failure. In fact, she strongly suggested that we do another attempt. She went on to say that it is an implantation issue. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN????

My DH and I have decided to try it again and see what happens. This is the last one that my insurance will cover. If the next attempt is unsuccessful we are 100% out-of-pocket. Honestly, I am not sure if I can go through this again. The stress of it all is really getting to me and I am physically and emotionally exhausted!
If anyone has any insight into implantation failure I would love to hear your point of view.

I'm sorry for the bfn. Did she explain more about what she means it's an implantation issue? Next time you may try to have acupuncture right before and after the transfer. It should cost about $100-150 for both sessions. Studies have shown it to help with implantation.
Unfortunately this is not an exact science. If you respond well to meds and there are no major issues, it's probably just a matter of time. So hang in there and try again if you can.

I am so sorry to hear it failed. We are in the same boat it looks like. We also have unexplained infertility, and healthy otherwise. after 3 ivfs, 2 fresh and 1 FET and our insurance ran out, a little late now, we are looking into changing RE's. I am looking for immunological tests for implantation failure which i havent had yet, i should have gotten those after the first failed IVf and spare me of this unnecessary heartache.
I dont know why we should settle with the Rx of unexplained, when nothing works. I know there are more tests out there, make sure you request them, before you go any further. Other ladies here were discovered with high prolactin levels after several failed IVFs and unexplained till then, the iron levels can interfere also with implantation...and so on.

I'm going for my 2nd attempt; the first was with fresh embryos (day 3), and the second will be with frozen embryos (blastocyst transfer). My doctor said that everything looked great on paper the last time, so he's not too sure why they didn't implant. I have my fet next week, but we have to make sure that the embryos thaw first. Our insurance doesn't cover infertility treatments, and the cost out of pocket has been crazy, let alone the physical and emotional heartache. We've been ttc for 9 years. I'm 34 and my dh is 31. I'm hoping that things will work this time around. I did try four sessions of accupuncture with my last cycle. Errrrr. Hoping for the best, not just for me, but for all of you as well. If it doesn't work next time round, i am not too sure if i can go through it again.
