infertility

been married over 4 years, after the first 2 months stopped using any form of birth control. After 3 years, went to doctor. He said this was not good. Did some tests, husband is fine, I on the other hand have one blocked tube and my prolacten level was high (38) should be around 24, I stared meds. to bring my prolacten level down and I had the "dye" test, which found blocked tube. Later this month I am having laproscopcy surgury done to see if they can unblock tube. The meds. I am on for prol. level makes me feel sick, giving me headaches, I am lightheaded, I sometimes vomit when I get really upset, I just feel like crap. I am trying to work out, that seems to help and I am going to write a letter to my family and friend explaining what I am going though and why I have been isolated and angry and sad and unsettled and I could go on and on, but I think most will know what I am talking about.....

Laura - It sounds like you are on the right road. You sound fortunate to have only one blocked tube and the labrosocpy is said to be successful 80% of the time. I have had that done a few times, unfortunatly I had severe blockage. We have been through IVF 5 times and were successful once and have a daughter. I am trying to find information on a procedure where they inject antibaotics into the tubes to clear them. I have not had good reports though. We were sceptical of this procedure since only one doctor preforms it and none of the specialist we have consulted over the years has ever mentioned it. It is called the Chapman Procedure done in CA & NY only. The cost is only $3500 which compared to invitro is cheap. I would encourage you to tell your friends and family, during this time you and your spouse need the support. Good luck to you both.
Vicki

Re: infertility

Hi Laura, my name is Leslie. We are not going through the exact same thing, but simular. I have had 10 failed pregnancies. It started when I was 21 and now I'm 30. Today is my husbands 32 birthday and I'm so sad. He was 22 our first pregnancy. I'm so down today. Just wanted to say "hi" and good luck...we both have infertility. Your frustation in your letter was no stranger to me, I also have isolated my-self and become a different person. Good luck to you.

Re: infertility

Hi Laura! My name is Shannon and my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 23 months now. I have pcos, oral fertility drugs did not work for us and now we are on our second cycle of puregon injections. I am trying to remain hopeful but sometimes it is hard to be the cheery person I once was. I'm tired from getting up early every morning to go to the dr.'s and I feel like I don't have anyone to talk to because none of my friends could even begin to imagine what it is like. Sometimes I think the only thing that keeps me going is the thought that one day we will have the most beautiful child. I also think that we will be the best parents possible because we have spent so much time wanting, preparing for and loving this child and not every couple is able to say that they put so much planning, effort, thought, and love into the making of the child. I truly believe that all of the bad days, tears, and disappointment that we have had will be more than worth it when our turn comes around. We wish you and your husband the best of luck. Please keep us posted.
