I have to have the dye test done now. The doctor told me to schedule it a week after my period. I am scared, but I am going to fo it. i am terrible with pain, so do you think if I pay extra that my doctor with have me IV sedated or something? I can not take pain at all. Can someone give me advice? How long does this take?
I have had to dye test done. It is uncomfortable during but it is after that hurt for me. It is like cramps. What I found out out taht is best to do is take Mortrin or such about an hour before. I was not told this before. The nurse asked my if I had taken anything for the pain and that is when I was told about that.
You can talk to your doctor about this but I doubt he will do that.
Alazay, PLEASE do not worry about the pain too much...it really is not that bad!! I had a bit of cramping & bleeding afterward. Nothing you can't handle!!! The total procedure took about a half an hour. Please

I had the hsg test in Nov and like you i dont handle pain well. My dr gave me a mild valium (only b/c i got a student) but it really didnt have any pain. I felt a little cramp when the opened the uterous but after that nothing. It was really more uncomfortable than anything. I had some cramping later that day but that was it. Try taking some extra strength tylenol about 30 min before. Good luck!!
So I guess that there is no reason to be IV sedated. I am going to do the test regardless, I don't care how bad it hurts. I just can't take pain at all, and if it hurts really bad, they will not be able to do it.
Hi, Like the rest said you will have alittle cramping. But that should be all!Hey besides when I had it done my Doctor told me your chances of becoming pregnant with in the first month was very good! And for me I did get prgnant the first month with my first child. But for the second time I had it done it still took me three years, but I also had other complications.
