Tubal treatment to good to be true?

Hi - I am new to the board and looking for anyone who has any information on a tubal procedure that is done to unblock tubes. The procedure consists of use of antibiotics put directly into your tubes and is to clear them out. There is only one doctor who does this and he has offices in CA & NY. The cost for this is $3500.00. I can not find any information besides their own web page and am very skeptical having gone through many treatments. The name of the treatment is the New Direction's Chapman Tubal Infertility Procedure. Thank you for your information.<p>[This message has been edited by Vicki (edited 01-03-2001).]

Re: Tubal treatment to good to be true?

Vicki,
You may want to check with your doctor before you try the Chapman procedure. I was about to try it also and when i discussed it with my dr he suggested doing a HSG test first to see if there was in fact blockage. the dye that is used in this test is thick enough that if there is minimal blockage that it flushes the tubes out. Takes about 20 min for the entire procedure and approximately 80% of the people who have this are pregnant with in 3 to 5 months. I also checked with several fertility specialists in my area and they all have said that to their knolwedge blockage in the tubes cannot be removed by antibioctics. Hope the info helps and good luck.

Re: Tubal treatment to good to be true?

Thanks Allie - I have had the test with the dye done. We began treatments about 6 years ago, both tubes are completely blocked. We were successful on our 2nd IVF cycle and have a daughter. We have done a total of 4 cycles and 1 frozen and have decided to quit the IVF. This procedure sounded too good to be true but I thought I would investigate it before seeing my doctor. I have never done anything with the chlomid, but wish you luck with your decision. Thanks for your info.
