Re: Tubal Reversal
I had a tubal reversal. The surgery was successful and I conceived 5 1/2 months afterward. I did not go full term, unfortunately, because it was an ectopic pregnancy. We tried for another 1 1/2 years to conceive, which we did, all ending in miscarriage due to the damage and scarring of the tubes, caused by all the surgeries. My doctor is an excellent surgeon and infertility specialist. We are now going through IVF procedures to conceive because the tubes are beyond further repair. If you want to try it, go for it. It is very painful. You will need about 6 weeks to recover. Looking back, I wish I would have gone the IVF route instead of having the reversal. The scar is about 5 inches long from the reversal. Your doctor can access your tubes prior to doing the surgery to see if the length is adequate for reconnecting. The reversal is usually not covered by insurance, where as IVF sometimes is. At least a portion of it. Look into your insurance coverage, discuss the pro's and con's with your partner, the make the decision. Good luck to you!
