Newbie seeking advice
Just stumbled across the board, looks like a good place for advice regarding a problem I have.
Way back in August I had perfect hearing with a very slight tinnitus that was only barely noticeable in complete silence.
Well, I went on holiday and all was well. A day or so after the flight home (2.5 hrs) I noticed that the tinnitus in my left ear was louder and much higher pitched, whether or not it was gradual I dont know because I didnt really notice.
I went to the GP who had a nosey with the light thingy who said the ear was inflamed a little, she prescribed a penicilin based drug to try and relieve the inflamation. Didnt really help, neither did the other drug she prescribed. Could the flight home have affected the ear someway, I didnt have any pain during takeoff and landing.
Well here we are at the end of November and its still there, I am kind of getting used to it but I just want it to go back to the way it was before.
The symptoms now are,
High pitch whistle in left ear with no hearing loss except for sound thats quieter than the tinitus. Quiet loud and intrudes except in really noisy areas like bars and clubs.
Moving my jaw around seems to vary the pitch and volume although nothing has happened to the jaw and its proberbly because of contact on something.
Swallowing causes a crackle in both ears 90% of the time but not all the time.
Sometimes the left ear feels full (if you know what I mean) and swallowing hard a few times sometimes clears this.
It seems worse in the morning and usually seems to get quieter although still there during the day.
Any suggestions, the next step for the GP is to refer me to the ENT person. Although being from the UK the wait will be another 6 months (wonderful health system we have NOT).
