Is this right?

Hi everyone,

Just another question I'm afraid.... I am now at 6 months with Labs and am much better than I was. Mine started off slowly, peaked around Christmas and has been subsiding VERY SLOWLY since Feb. I'm now left with this very vague, subtle off balance feeling - not all the time and some days it's there more than others. Also I get the occasional split second of movement every now and then, sometimes when reading, sometimes when turning my head quickly or looking up or down. It literally is a split second but enough to be annoying and off putting. Can anyone tell me if this is how it goes? Will this just gradually diminish to nothing?

Thanks everyone, I only came on these boards in January but reading your stories has been a life saver for me.

Hope everyone is ok.

Lizzy x

Re: Is this right?

Lizzy,

That's how it's been for me for sure. I didn't have labs, but BPV, but I think the residual afterburn from these disorders probably feels very much the same -- at least that's my take after reading posts here since last September. I'm basically operating at 98-100% now, but there are times, not whole days, but those blips you describe that still happen occasionally. Drives me nuts! I do believe that they will continue to subside, however. Your description sounds pretty normal to me, at least in my own experience.

Good luck!

Hi Lizzy,

Your trajectory with this thing sounds quite similar to mine at the moment so I'd say we're on the road to recovery. I was really bad in October then got worse again at Christmas time. Now I'm much, much better and, like you, have this residual "off balance" stuff hanging around that comes and goes. Sometimes my vision is a little spacey too but think it's slowly getting there. How's your neck?

Cheers...Scott

Re: Is this right?

I have BPPV which is just about under control now, but I still get the odd day when I think that I might just possibly be (if you see what I mean) slightly off-balance. My best landmark is going downstairs. If the stairs are clear and don't move then I know I'm OK. I also think that the last 8-9 months of dealing with this (treatment, OK for a while, backsliding then more treatment) has caused my vision to change subtley. I only had new specs. last August, but I think I need to get another check-up as it just seems I could be seeing better. Like Lizzy, the feeling is almost imperceptable and sometimes I wonder if it isn't more in the mind, because, well, that's what I've got used to over the past months, and if I'd only stop thinking about it so much the feeling would pass. Hope it does for you to.
Madeleine

Cool Re: Is this right?

Hi Lizzy

..."if this is how it goes? Will this just gradually diminish to nothing?"....

Yep---for me---you described it exactly---that set of symptoms--occurred--at the tail end---and diminished---completely at month 14.......

Sounds like this junk is getting ready to disappear for you!!
