Smile VRT does work!

Hi everyone,

Finally, after just over 3 months - real improvement with VRT. As I've posted before, i am basically 100% during the day. with just some head-pulling on getting up and sometimes a light (very light) spin when turning over in bed. I have only had the one exercise all this time - a sort of mini-B-D - no sitting up between head turns. When I first started doing it, my right side was worse than my left - good spin for 7-8 seconds - and my left side about 3-4 seconds. Gradually - not so you'd notice on a daily basis or even a weekly basis - the spins slowed and my right side, up till 2 days ago, was either just a sort of head pull or the beginnings of a spins which stopped before it really got underway. The left has slowed, but still a couple of turns. Well, as from yesterday morning - and I do this exercise 4-6 times a day - when I do the head turn to the right - NOTHING! No head pull, no movement, just nothing, like there never had been anything, like a NORMAL person. I am really so amazed, because the improvement was total - from one day to the next. I am soooooooooo happy and encouraged because now I am sure that it is only a matter of time till the same thing will happen to my left side. Even if it takes another 3 months or longer. And time-wise, it's coming up to a year since this BPPV thing really made itself at home in my head.

So my advice to everyone - take heart, have patience and be encouraged. You will get there eventually. It's just that the eventually is different for everyone.

I tried Scott's balance exercise - couldn't keep it up for the time, but then I have had problems with one foot for years and haven't been able to balance on it even when I was "normal!"

Here's hoping everyone is having/has had a great day and remember - progress really is measured by comparing one month to the previous.

Cheers

Madeleine

Re: VRT does work! Update

Well, I guess I posted too soon. Had the feeling that if I put my success into words I'd jinx it! When I did my exercise this morning - 3 times so far - it was just the same as ever on the right side - head pull and some slight spin. Maybe I should put it down to having new glasses the same day that I had my success - multifocals, except that I've been wearing multifocals for years and walked out of the optometrist seeing just great. But I guess the old brain detected a change - and there was one because my astigmatism had almost disappeared in both eyes - and needed to cope with it. Whatever the reason, a bit dpressing on the one hand, but good to know it can happen - and hopefully will happen again before not too long.

Also - and I'm 100% sure this is the new specs. - I just have that "feeling", you know, whenyou are checking yourself to make sure you really are ok, and I am, no imbalance, dizziness, nothing, but just that feeling in my head. Oh well, can't win every time.

Hope everyone has a good weekend
Madeleine

Re: VRT does work!

Hi Madeleline,

Glad the VRT is helping you! I know the feeling when you think everything's looking good only to have something come back (the alien) and give you another dose! And I had just told my mother how good things were and that it might be finally over - jinx!!! And then I was hit with a cold two weeks ago. Since then it's back to swayed walking and "freaky" periods off and on through the day. Let the good times roll!

Cheers...Scott

Re: VRT does work!

yeh, I don't think we (I) amever going to be completely shot of this, but then I guess we all have to hope for the best - cos anything else is unthinkable. Hope you'll soon be fine, Scott.
