My ear feels very full

It's my affected ear, the right. My doctors said my problems originated because of allergies. Does anyone know of any methods I can use to clear out this fullness. I don't know which part of the ear is full, whether it's middle or inner (what's the difference?) but I know that my inner ear is the cause of my dizziness. Has anyone ever tried ear candles? Or is that just for wax? Maybe that will help anyway to clear the wax. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Re: My ear feels very full

Hi,

ear candling is a hoax....personal opinion.

You could try Sudafed which is a decongestant. I take one daily. I used to take the 60mg, but mostly now I'm halving them (30mg) and take the 60mg if symptoms warrant it.

If you're having allergies, there's also a med called Singulair which is a leucotrine inhibitor. It doesn't dry out your system like antihistamines. They have to be taken for a period of time, tho. But it definitely could be allergies triggering changes in your ears which could cause the crystals to become "floatable".....

You could also try a nasal lavage or wash using saline. I'm going to start it tomorrow because of my latest sinus symptoms. It also helps with eustachian tube problems.

We have had tons of rain where I live and with it comes a high mould count. Post nasal drip is becomming a pain. I'm using allegra on occasion but the Sudafed at least helps keep things open. I don't get the eustachian popping and "hollow" sounds like I used to. I still get my hearing cutting out for a few seconds at least once every 2 days. But that's been a norm for a long time -- and both ears do it.

Hope you have a feeling better day,
quincy

Re: My ear feels very full

Kris: Middle ear is the chamber inside you ear - behind your ear drum up to your bone, the inner ear is behind that bone, and doesn't have any real sensation (so can't really be felt) - it's where the cochlear and labyrinth are. Vertigo only really comes from the inner ear (though rarely extreme middle ear pressure can push on the inter-connecting membrane to give mild symptoms). Inner ear problems in themselves don't really cause middle ear symtpoms, I don't think it's that uncommon (eg littlemiss and others) for the virus which caused damage to the innerear to also leave behind problems in other places (like your middle ear) which needs addressing separatly...

Re: My ear feels very full
