Hi All,
Ive just bought a neti pot with which to irrigate my nose. I got it primarily to reduce congestion and to relieve hayfever symptoms, and hopefully to clear out my sinuses. Ive only done it a couple of times so far.
Just wondering if anyone does this and has noticed a difference in dizzyness/brain fog etc - because as well as washing out the sinuses it also cleans the entrance to the eustachian tubes.
I have not tried it although my allergist did recommend it. It seems kind of gross and possibly painful! What does it feel like? Does it seem to help? By the way, I was watching a TV show last night called The Amazing Race, and they had a scene where they were on the London Eye!! I did not know what you were talking about when you said you might go on it. I pictured it being like a ferris kind of ride. When I saw it, I was like, that's what Tess wants to go on. My family looked at me like, who's Tess. I said, she's one of my dizzy friends!!
I used the neti pot for about a year. I made sure the water I used was sterile and I used Sea Salt. I believe the only time it would be uncomfortable is if you use to much salt...you only need a pinch. A bit cumbersome in the beginning but once you get the knack it's no biggie. You'll know you got it right once you feel it coming out the other nostril.
Hey hey thats great Dizzy!! That really made me laugh! So now you know what it looks like, do you think it will cause a problem. Ive been told its so slow, so I am just going to go and try to enjoy the views!
The nasal irrigation is not painful at all. You don't really feel anything except the feeling of the water going through your nose, obviously!! When the water hits your sinuses it feels a bit tingly there but its okay. It does feel good afterwards - just clean and easier to breathe. Ive done it about 4 times now, it gets better each time. You definately need to get some special salt which makes the water like saline which won't hurt the inside of your nose - normal tap water will hurt. I got a starter pack from a uk website which contains everything and its quite cheap. You should give it a go.
Im at home and some people from one of the political parties has just come to the door - we have an election tomorrow. Couldn't get away from him!
Hope you are feeling better, Im a bit rough at the moment, just trying to get through the days. Have now been referred to an ENT although its going to take ages for the appt. Any updates on your tests/results??
Yeah, it looks really slow. I don't think it would make me feel worse! I just don't like heights, so I probably would not like it for that reason. I have always wanted to go to London! I loved Princess Diana! I have collected tons of stuff about her over the years! I posted earlier about the platform test, I am having it tomorrow. That is supposed to give me some answers. I see a balance/vestibular specialist next week too! Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Anything cause it, or it just came on?
