Itchy Infected ear, need more information please - Inner Ear Disorders Message Board

After intense itching and pain, I have been diagnosed w/an ear infection. I am a 33yr old female. I have been prescribed Pediotoc drops 4x per day, and antibiotics, Cephalexin 500mg 2 caps 2x per day and began taking them 1/30/06. I am still experiencing swelling and jaw pain in the infected ear. When should I expect to regain hearing, and is it safe to continue taking Advil 200mg to alleviate some of the pain. While using the drops should I avoid getting the ears wet? Is it safe to use a warm compress or does that encourage yeast to grow?

Actually, my ear infection cleared up. I still like to like to use Qtips to clean my ears daily... ok, more than once a day.

i can't help but to do this too^.... it's one of those things where you know if you mess with it it will make it worse.. but you do it anyways just to get some kind of relief within the moment......

q-tips+ear infections=bad.
