question about tinnitus

i have had tinnitus for about 5 months caused by a loud noise. i am currently suffering from a middle ear infection (my eardrum didnt rupture) for the past 4-5 days. my tinnitus had been almost double over the past few days. my question, is that normal for sufferers of tinnitus during ear infections for their tinnitus to get worse.? or is it something i should be concerned about?

Re: question about tinnitus

My ears are full from a cold. My tinnitus is louder than normal in 1 ear, but quieter in the other. This is the same result I have had each time.

Re: question about tinnitus

My tinnitus has been 24/7 since I had (suspected) viral inner ear infection and it also hasnít changed at all. It is exactly the same as it was 4 months ago.

Re: question about tinnitus

Mine was pretty constant for about 8 months then started to fade, still there 15 months on but not as bad. . . or I've just got used to it, Hopi Ear candles (Auricular Therapy) does make the noises quieter for me especially after a cold??????

Re: question about tinnitus

Not sure about an actual ear infection, but viruses definitely spike my tinnitus. After two years of tinnitus, when spikes occur, my tinnitus always settles back down to where it was before the virus.

Feel better - Gloria

Hi there Since taking an ear infection a year ago Iv taken another 8 or 9 since and everytime I get one the noise gets louder as anything that blocks the eardrum affects the noise. It should settle down again, although my tinnitus goes up and down daily, its never the same two days in a row. Andrea
