First time here
I'm a newbie here and hoping to get some clues as to what it is that's been bothering me. I've had some chronic sinusitus and allergy issues all my life and for the most part, I've been able to deal with them. Nearly 5 years ago I moved to a new state, and a little over 3 years ago I started having dizziness and balance problems for weeks - even months - at a time, nearly always in the summer. My family doctor said my ears looked fine. He referred me to a neurologist for a work up but by the time I got in to see the specialist, it was 10 weeks later and the problem had passed. The following summer the difficulties returned! I have no nausea and don't feel as though the room is spinning - just "light-headed" with some balance problems. Looking down worsens the equilibrium problem. In addition, I notice some short-term memory and concentration problems, and more difficulty than usual reading small print. I feel fatigued and "washed out" but have a hard time sleeping. Someone told me too much aspirin can cause these symptoms, so I stopped taking aspirin some time back, but the problems persist. My health insurance is lousy so I can't afford to visit a bunch of specialists who will just be taking shots in the dark. Any thoughts on the best place to start, at least - or what we should be looking for? Thanks so much for any help you all can provide.
