No Pills- Feeling Better Why????

kNOW IT IS HARD to believe , but today was the first day in wks that I din't have really bad pressure behind ears and funny feelings in top of my head w/ my etd and bppv- and took no sudafed, and no claritin- and I was outside for 50 mins exercising. Figure that out- maybe because I was so bad the day before( and I didnt go outside that day and did take medication) that I called the neuro-otologist who I have seen about 4 times- so could it be placebo - just knowing I am going to be seen I feel better. How strange- any ideas. I know I don't tolerate meds at all in general- and do recall that he did tell me that sudafed, and claritin wouldn't really help the dizzies- he did an eply at that time- and that did help. I still am doing my nasal steroid spray though.

Re: No Pills- Feeling Better Why????

Redsands: I don't know if this will help your problem, but I was using a nasal steroid spray (can't recall the name, right now, but one of the common ones) for several days before my last attack of Vertigo several months ago. (I have terrible allergies, ear aches, runny nose etc.) I then switched to a cheap, drugstore variety of saline spray. Can't believe I am not sneezing, running, coughing at all! No sudafed or other pills. I have about 15 minutes of sinus
'cleansing' (the nicest way to put it) and after that my usual hayfever is gone. (The salt stings a little, but I think it toughens the skin. I use it every other day.) I also spend alot of time outside in the fresh air playing tennis. Went back to that as soon as I could bend over to pick up the balls and felt better and better. (Before the saline spray my nose would run outside and I would have to stop to blow it. A nuisance!) So I am not surprised at your reaction. Being active outside means moving the head around. I don't know how, but somehow it helped me get rid of my balance problems from the Vertigo. GO FIGURE!

Re: No Pills- Feeling Better Why????

Well maybe I spoke too soon- after a car ride I got some symptoms. I have had it- went to the ear specailist- he ordered an MRI- which freaked me out- told me that claritin or sudafed wouldn't help- and ordered an over the counter saline ( high pressure this Ensoft)- believe it or not- I feel a little better then I have after using it a few times. Odd- wish I didn't have to take the MRI- but It is best to know. Look at the post of July 13
