dizziness 24/7

hi all

well, im back. Ive hit another continual, 24/7 dizzy time. My history is that i have suffered with this many times before, one time for a period of 2 years or so without any relief and then a subsidence and then in 2005 i started to get a fluttering in my ear and the dizziness went terrible for months and months....so bad i couldnt even function. i have always had tinnitus in this time as well. Well, i lost my job from it and THEN when the dizziness subsided again i got terrible tinnitus, really really loud and that hasnt gone away. Then about 2 weeks ago the dizziness kicked in and here we are again.
Im 34 and have had all the tests you can imagine over the years. All Clear.
Ive just got a new job starting in a few days and cant get over how this all happens to me.
Quality of life is very poor because of it and sometimes i want to just opt out of it all, if you know what i mean.
dont know how i will cope with working too....no idea.....
Just wanted to know if this situation and trouble has been put on someone else with such magnitude.
I dont know how they cope if they are unlucky enough to have been afflicted like me as i never coped well at all.
Ive been at the end of my tether before and now is no different. Everytime i comes back my resolve and morale gets lower because its messed me up so much and so often before.
I dont know what to do this time. Im so ground down by it all.
Very frustrating that no one understands so i never mention it to people because i expect they will think im a hypocondriac which i know im not.

Re: dizziness 24/7

Rick - I am so sorry to hear that the dizzies have returned. What was your initial diagnosis? Viral Labyrinthitis? BPPV? Maybe even Meniere's? I have only had this horrible illness since March but a lot of people on this board have had it for several years and have learned to do things to help alleviate the symptoms. Have you tried vestibular rehabiliation therapy? There are also some surgical options out there for people with chronic debillitating ear problems like yours. Have you seen a specialist (Neuro-Otologist)?

I can sympathize with you, as well as most of the people on this board. This illness is wicked and very hard to cope with. But at the same time, there are things you can do to make the ride a little smoother and shorter hopefully! Time usually heals inner ear problems. Hang in there. I know that is easier said than done. One week I will feel almost normal and be rejoicing that my life is back, and then the next week I will be on a boat again and it is so frustrating to be let down time and time again. I have to keep thinking towards the future when SOMEDAY it will be gone for good.
