Jaxzilla....

Hi - I am new to this board. MironUK found my post on the Brain/Nervous System board (thank you, Alex!), so I am now looking into an inner ear issue. I have many symtoms that I consider to be MS-like (tinnitus, tingling/numb/pins and needles, sensitivity to light, dizziness), however my MRI's have come up clear except for "changes in white matter consistent with migraine".
I noticed in reviewing this board that you are in my area...
Do you have an ENT specialist that you like? If so, would you mind passing his/her name along to me?
I have been to a neurologist and am ready to pursue another course of action. The waiting and not knowing is making me nuts!!

Any other insight is also appreciated.

Thanks,

Jill

Re: Jaxzilla....

OK, thanks Cathy! It would be nice to find that elusive knowledgeable and sincere doctor that could figure out what my problem is .

Re: Jaxzilla....

Everything you have described (the tinnitus, tingling, numbness, light sensitivity, dizziness) is consistent with migraine. I am not sure an ENT could offer any assistance. Have you tried migraine treatment?

The white matter hyperintensities add to the evidence that it is all caused by migraine. If you pursue other causes you may end up going in circles for what is a very common problem - I would be surprised if your neurologist hasnt offered to treat migraine and see if the symptoms resolve?

Inner Ear Vs. Migraine?

I actually asked my neuro about migraine causing all of these symptoms and he said no! When I look up migraine online I cannot find any of the sensory symptoms either. Maybe I should try a migraine specialist?
I was thinking of going to an ENT b/c when all of this started 4 months ago, I went to the doctor because my left arm felt numb and I had dizziness. They checked my ears, said I had fluid in my ear (I was not sick, and ears felt fine) and that whatever was going on with my arm was not related to my dizziness. I have been freaking out about MS ever since, and am having a hard time trusting the MRI results.
In reading the posts on this board, it seems that dizziness and vertigo are the main symptoms and I cannot say that is true of my case. I have occasional dizziness that is associated with movement of my head. I have twin babies and sitting between them at the dinner table is the WORST. I look back and forth between them and just feel so dizzy and yucky. I will have a couple of dizzy days at a time and then feel OK for awhile, but the tingling is every day.
One other strange thing...before all of this started I would get migraines at least once every two weeks. Now they have diminished drastically. Maybe one a month and it isn't even bad enough to take an Immitrex. Maybe they switched to silent migraines? I am so confused.
Thanks for listening to me ramble...this is a great board and I have learned so much already.

J
