Does anyone else have this? I get alot of fluid that drains out of my ear first thing in the morning. A little bit drains out t/o the day but the majority is in the morning. I posted this on another board and some people do experience it I was just wondering if anyone here does and possibly knows what it is from. Thanks
What do you mean drains?? From your ear canal or in your nasal area? If its coming out of the ear Canal (your ear), Do you have tubes?, Do you have a perforated ear drum? Does it hurt... Outer ear infection?
Hey Tummy yes it comes out of my ear. I have been to an ENT and my primary care doctor and they say my ear is fine. I have an appt for balance testing tomorrow and then with a neurotologist on Tuesday so I will ask again if anything is wrong with my ear but yes it drains out of my ear!!! I can put my little finger in there and there is fluid on there. It's so annoying. No pain just pressure and fullness and popping.
I wonder if you have a slight perforation in your ear drum.... Basically the fluid has to come from somewhere.. So its possible that when you sleep the fluid builds up and flows through a tiny hole in your drum.... Not sure though... does the fluid have an odor to it? Is it think like pus? Ask the ENT to run a tympanogram to check if there is fluid in yoru eustacion tubes... Otherwise this is quite baffling
I sometimes wake up with wet ears.. Feels like there is a bit of fluid coming out.. Its just sweat for me though....
I thought about a perforated ear drum too. I went to an ENT in November who did a hearing test and I know they did a test to see if there was fluid in the ear drum and they said there wasn't. I will have to get those records. Yeah it's baffling. I know it's not sweat because my ears pop and then it comes out. Also if I hold my nose and hold my breath and blow out to try to pop my ears a little comes out then too just not as much as first thing in the morning. It's baffling alright and freaking annoying. However I get relief from it. I can't even get out of bed until I know it's all drained out. Strange.
