Advice on MEP(wanted, subs?, firechick?) and tidbits on BPPV

First the Advice:

OK, so I read deep into the BPPV article as I got some mild bout today, because even as I woke clogged with my allergic issues, I've decided to take a shot to the three suspects BPPV(favorite of my doctors), MAV(my personal suspect), and Allergies, which might have been the real villain here without anyone considered them deeply, but I will try them one at a time...

AS the article showed me that I got almost the same chance, if not a little bit more, to get the calcium rocks into the wrong canal after the Brandt Darhoff sets(my main concern for trying this), than after the MEP, I'm decided to try it.

So, being this second maneuver at least as safe as B. Darhoff, and statistically quicker and more effective than it for BPPV treatment, I'll give it a shot to see what happens.

Without knowing for sure which is my bar BPPV ear I think I'll start with the prime suspect(right ear), the one with a deteted vestibular dysfunction.

Note(more info): On my last Dix Hallpike tests I felt mildly woozier as I sat up from the right ear, than from the left one, but it wasn't a huge difference either. In neither case I felt woozy or dizzy when the doctor laid me down quickly to any side. This was the same on the B.Darhoff sets I tried, where I didn't feel dizzy when I lay down to the sides, but a little when I rise to the sitting position, again this mostly happened when I did it from my right side(the one that was touching bed).

Maybe this supports the case for try the MEP with the right ear first, so what I wanted to as is this(I already read the sticky and watched the videos, but wanted to check anyway)

1. If the right ear is affected, on position 1 of the MEP set, Should I begin turning my head to that side(the right) or to the opposite one?

2.(Subs, fchick) This is supposed to get me dizzy(If I hit the right spot) right?, or what should I expect?(to be prepared).

3. The instruction is the same as BDarhoff? Stay in the position for 30 seconds or until dizziness recedes(whatever happens first)

4. I I don't feel anything, neither dizziness nor improvement, should I give it a shot to the other side to see what happens? or not...

Any advice is welcomed. I plan to try it either tomorrow Morning or maybe on Monday, to give the chance to my ears and nose to clear up a little from my present clogging, if that could be a negative factor.

Now the tidbits:

1. Even as BPPV suggest quick whirling positional episodes, the recurrence of them during the day, make us feels like we're dizzy all the time, while we're not. Take in account the usual little unsteadiness and wooziness experienced between this episodes too.

2. Due to chronic compensation and latency(the time between the actual movement of the particles and their actual dizziness effect), it's sometimes tricky to pinpoint a Dx, and we might feel like we're having an spontaneous attack, while we're not.

3. Even mild head movement can cause a stir, and we do move our head much more than we think.

Finally, a general advice from my own experience: It's well known that staying active is helpful with vestibular issues, as the brain gets the chance to widen it's compensation range, as it responds better to stimuli.

I would add to that that not only being positive, but to have your mind busy, in whatever it is that gets you entertained, happy or really interested(other than our daily search for a dizziness cure) will trigger a mind response that will cancel, at east for some time, your symptoms.

I'm not saying this is a cure, but it will help tons for coping better with this condition, and eve it's an indirect proof that the bran can, and hopefully will for al of us, compensate in full for whatever vestibular issue we might have.

You do it excatly as shown in "Video 2" which is for a person who has a "Right Ear" problem.

1. As shown in Video 2 you turn your head to the bad ear(right).

2. If it is not BPPV(right ear) u will prob not get any spinning....if its BPPV you will get spinning in---as many as one or two positions...

3. Exactly.

4. Not yet.

Once you start the MEP do three sets in each 24 hour period---continue doing the 3 sets every 24 hours---until the "Event" that the MEP instruction calls for you to stop occurs....

Good Luck!
