Well, I guess the doctors have diagnosed me with VERTIGO.. What kind?? They don't even know, one says one thing and the other says another..But I do know one thing for sure... I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!! I feel like I am in my own dizzy, nauseous, confused, stressed etc... world.. I have had this now for about 6 months. But of course in the beginning it was a chronic sinus infection caused by allergies..(I have never been allergic to ANYTHING) But your the doctor so whatever you say, 3 prescriptions later of antibiotics and no more sinus infection but everything else that is linked to vertigo is happening..So any advice on what or how to deal with all this would be greatly appreciated.. As it stands now my main issue is that my family thinks I am taking drugs.... All the signs for that are very much there so I can see how somebody could assume such a thing.. Dizzie, Sick to my stomach, No appetite, can't sleep etc.. I refuse to answer to any body's judgement on this and will stand my ground, I AM SICK.. Bottom line.. Support is what I need the most.. Daughter is getting married on Sept. 6th and all this talk behind my back is killing me.... To the point I do not want to attend her wedding.. I could go on and on and probably will in my next few posts... For now any advice out there.... I'm lisenting
Hey There - sorry for what you are going thru - most of us on this board have had to deal with people doubting what's really wrong with us (or at least worrying about people doubting what's really wrong with us) - it's very, very frustrating to have to deal with that on top of feeling like crap.
What kind of doctors have you seen? Have you seen a neurotologist? They specialize in inner ear disorders and they can do tests to help diagnose the problem (plus, it might give you some concrete evidence that you're not on drugs and it's a vestibuler problem LOL!!)
I hope you're able to make it to your daughter's wedding - this stuff can really impact your life, but it would be a shame to miss an event like that over this junk.
I understand exactly what you are going through. My problem all started with a bad case of vertigo. I have had this problem for almost 4 months. They have done every possible blood test, CT scan, sleep studies and still cant find the problem.Doc put me on cymbalta because of the cluster headaches I was having. It got rid of the headaches but the dizziness, ear pain, pressure in my eyes, ears and forehead have not gone away. The most puzzleing thing to my doctors is that I feel fine when I wake up, but the symptoms set in about a half hour after waking up. I would be curious to know if that part is the same for you. I have been taking tylenol pm and it has helped me sleep better. My sleep tests have shown that I am not reaching the 2nd and 3rd stage of sleep, in which your body revitalizes. I have 4 children and my wife doesnt believe that I am sick. She thinks im faking it to get out doing work around the house or taking care of the kids. needless to say our marriage suffering right now. I would do anything not to feel sick to my stomach, dizzy or feel like someone is pumping air into my forehead. I have an MRI scheduled for tomorrow. I will let you know what or if they find anything.
Well, I have finally got myself talked into sitting in front of this computer, at least long enough to respond...
Life for me has been absoutley horrible...Still going thru sooooo many different things almost daily with this "VERTIGO"..
Was able to go to daughters wedding barely... Night before I was going to hang my purse on the door knob(due to the fact I forget where it is that I put things, thanx to the Vertigo) can't forget that it's there cuz I will be going out that door when i leave right? Great idea I think.. Well I leaned over to hang on door and to no surprise, i loose my balance, fall forward and hit my head above my right eye on the dead bolt. next thing I know I am awakened by the telephone ringing and I am lying on the floor.. Have no idea how long I was there due to the fact I cant remember what time it was in the first place... to be continued on next page..
Here is a list of daily (adventures) ?? Dizzy, Nausea, Confusion, Blurry/foggy vision, uncontrolable mood swings, memory loss, lack of concentration for to long, Feel like I am learning simple words for the first time eg;for the life of me I could not remember what you called the thing that holds a door to the frame (HINGE)..Of course thats what it is called, and there was a time when I used to know that.. So many things I could just go on and on.. I have 3 people total that actually put up with me..none of them family
Have you had your head scanned with at least an MRI or CAT. Your symptoms are quite real and anyone that has had these symptoms before would never doubt what you are going through. My husband had your same symptoms and turned out the bone behind his ear was infected but two docs didn't figure it out until 3rd one did a CAT scan...it was quite infected and it took a long time to cure. Good luck...keep looking for a doctor that can figure yours out sometimes all it takes is a doctor who has seen your symptoms before and can pin point what is happening and can fix it.
I have had a MRI on my brain only thing they discovered was I had an xtra blood vessel, but no worrys so they say.... seen a neroligist(cant remember how to spell it sorry) ear nose and throat, and my regular md.. I guess I am going to have to be the one to push them to do something... more on the list would include... lack of sleep, can't eat to much only I think because my mind wont let me decide what i want so i get frustrated and just forget about it...sounds crazy i know but thats what happens... thanx for responding to me...I really have been lost and just want my family to (daughter) mostly to just understand this a little but we are no longer talking as of yesterday..big fight with her being physical with me...I dont know what to do other than letting go. I just cant deal w/even that serious of a problem.. all i can think of is this damn whatever it is..and what or when is my next step and how to fix it or deal with it...
Have you ever looked up "Perilymph Fistula"? Essentially, it is a fracture / whole in your inner ear which can be surgically fixed.
Your symptoms scream of some sort of inner ear disorder.........this being one of them. When symptomatic (I always had it 24-7.....but some times were worse than others)......the concentration and forgetfullness were ampliefied.
Go on To Dr. Hain's website out of Chicago. Look up Perilymph Fistula and just give it a good read. Tell me what you think
Excuse my ignorance but Perilymph Fistula (PLF) can only be caused by head trauma or baro-trauma, complications from middle ear surgery and in extremely rare cases Valsalva manuevers can also cause a PLF.
I had successful PLF surgery about 6 months ago after a blow to my head caused a tear in my round window. It is a very simple surgery to patch the round window through the middle ear.
Also PLF is extremely rare. Unfortunately there are so many inner ear problems that can cause your symptoms and only a qualified doctor who specialises in inner ear problems can help you and make any diagnosis.
May be something to consider would be to see a neurotologist and do some balance tests! Hopefully any tests will point in the direction of a certain condition. MRI/CT scans are of only so much use, you mention you had a MRI ot the brain, what about a CT of your inner ear?
Never lose hope, hope is your best friend. Stay strong, stay positive, keep hope alive and by means of finding a helpful doctor and researching your symptoms, you will make it through this.
