CT scan showing extra cavities in ear

I was sent for a CT for a possible cholesteatoma. The radiologist did not say much- she said she thinks she sees something but I will have to talk to the doctor. They gave me the films so of course I looked at them, when comparing left and right, I see 2 big extra black spots in the left ear (the one with cholesteatoma). From what I understand black in a CT means a cavity. Does this probably mean it's bone/tissue deterioration from the cholesteatoma? Has anyone ever had a CT that looked like that?? I'm going to go nuts waiting for the doctor!
