I'm worried to death about my mom. Three weeks ago she went in to have a colonoscopy and since then she has suffered light headedness and dizzy spells. At first they thought it was her blood pressure since it was exceedingly high the day after the test, but now it is down and she is still dizzy. Today she saw an ENT and nothing. Ears looks fine.(Although she says they ache behind her ears slightly.) So next week she goes for a glucose tolerance test and then, if that is normal, an ENG. Some days she feels better than others and 11 to 2 seems to be the worse. But she is constantly in a fog and of course now has grown very anxious, which is not helping matters at all. Why is it that we always think the worst? Are there questions we should be asking? Tests we are overlooking? Is it possible this won't be diagnosed at all?

i can completely relate. My mom had something similar happen to her aswell. 2 years ago she had very bad dizzy spells/attacks. They started after she got her ears flushed. this went on for months and no doctor found nothing, she saw three ENT doctors and they found nothing. Finally she got referred to a neurologist but one that must have gotten her phd from a gumball machine.She told my mom that she had a stroke and was having seizures. She put her on all types of medications, but it just made her worse.
finally she got refered to another neurologist just last week and she was told that she never had a stroke or seizures and that it is a inner ear embalance.
my mom went to a vertigo clinic aswell and they said they couldnt figure out what was wrong.
if your mom's symptoms keep persisting, then get the doctor to take a MRI or CT SCAN. this can rule out
anything that has to do with hear brain. also ask to be refered to a neurologist if the ENT continues to say there is nothing wrong. doctors can be a big pain in the butt.they will say there is nothing wrong but if your mom is still having the symptoms, then they need to do something. it has been a very frustrating two years for my mom, we had given up hope in doctors all together, but i hope from her story we can save some people some time in trying to find a cure for their symptoms.if you have anymore questions feel free to ask all you want. hope this helps, my prayers are with you and your mom,take care, allie

I'm concerned that this started after having the colonoscopy. Did she possibly have a reaction to the meds she was given for the procedure? How is her health otherwise? You also didn't say what the results of the test were? Was she cleared for any type of polyps/cancer? I suggest that if you can't find a doc who can give you an answer that you take her to the ER if this continues or worsens. I live in Fl., and can tell you that I have had dizziness and balance dysfunction for the past two and a half years. 65 docs later I still haven't gotten a definitive diagnosis.
