Hey, im new on these boards. My probleme is, between june and july (2002) i started getting this tapping noise in my head, (the kind of sound you recieve by tapping two fingers against something wodern) these noise could be very close together (and could progress into the night). I thought that they would go away eventually, but they started infringing on my studying, (im in my last year of GCSE's), i found that when i got the noise, whatever i was thinking of disapeared. So i went to the doctors, and he gave me enthyromicine?, and said it was an ear infectiopn ( i doubted the prognosis - fortunately i have never suffered with ear infections) Unfortunately the sound continued, and i went back to my doctor, who refered me to the ENT clinic at the hospital. They put me through various tests, and decided i probably had myoclonus, and prescribed clonazepan; and gave the impression that these were painkillers. I also have to go back sometime for an MRI. Unfortunately, when i got home, i realised that these were anti-seziure medication, and since i was just about to start my mock Exams, i decided that taking them was not worth the risk. We did phone ENT to discuss the side-effects, but there was no reply. I then did some reaserch on the internet, and discovered these "tapping sensations" that i recieve in my body on my muscels, was probably related to the sound in my ear ( forgot to mention - its only my left ear). Fortunately - for the last month (rougly 31 days) i havent had the sound in my ear! the longest ive ever not had the sound is about 8 days! however, ive just started to have a movement sensation across the bridge of my nose (very disconcerting). I was wondering if myoclonus in the ear can come and go, or if mine has gone away completely? if anyone can help, id be very greatful. The only medication i use are inhalers (for asthma)and occasionally antihistamines (for my allergies). Thanks
