I totally agree with you. For two years, I have been suffering from serious problems in my left ear. First it was this horrible clogged discomfort and maddening popping. What made it so terrifying was that there was no way to prevent or STOP it. Then the popping mostly went away and only the plugged discomfort remained. Next, I started getting these random muscle spasms or "Thumping" sensations in my ear. Like the popping it was terrifying and unbearable because I couldn't stop it. At one point, I was running through the woods screaming like a mad man. If I had a gun, I would have blown my brains out. I had botox injections on the roof of the mouth to get rid of the muscle spasms. While this eventually reduced the "thumping" it caused patulous eustachian tube dysfunction. I could not stand feeling my ear drum being blown back and forth and hearing the loud sound of my breathing. I then had aria calcium hydroxylapatite injected into the eustachian tube to narrow it. Initially, this made the symptoms worse, but eventually it went away. All this time, the ear remained clogged and uncomfortable. For about three months, I only had to contend with some discomfort, very rare popping and very rare thumping. Now, the thumping is getting more frequent. It can happen once every few hours to once every ten minutes. It happens too often to tolerate. I am in a constant state of anxiety and frustration as I know it can happen at any time. I do admit that I am far better off than two years ago when I injured my ear. It's just that the level of day to day suffering is still just too much.
