I see you are still suffering. Have you not yet tried the Epley Maneuver from a physical therapist?? You've done every other test. Give it a try, it helps with the spinning. By now, you probably are having anxiety vertigo from having it for so long - who wouldn't, but the physical therapy aspect of it could really, really help you. I go on Wed. for another maneuver!

Iam just now seeing this post.

I am to see my nuerologist on March 18th...Things have been getting worse & I am getting really depressed. I will mention the eply maneuver to my dr...I hope he can put a name to my problem..BVP, labryinthis(sp),meniers...?? I just want some kind of closure..Not that it will help,,,but maybe I can just get on with life,,KWIM?
I had a 2month period that was dizzy free! Oct/nov..During this time I was on Celexa..I thought I was cured. WRONG...& then it just hit me overnite. dizzys, nausea,,headaches,fullness in my left ear, & ringing.

amos...good luck with your eply...is it helping?..

The Celexa comment is interesting to me. I had Tofrinil prescribed and it helped, although it didn't get rid of it completely. I wonder if other anti-depressents work? And now I really wonder why they help. Do you think its a virus?

I used to have the humming, sort of like ringing. I started taking 125 mg. Depakote in the a.m. and same in the p.m. it took it away.

It totally sounds like you have at least Benign Positional Vertigo. The way it can come and go. Those rotten crystals inside the semi circular ear canals, can lie fine for a long time, then they'll move and you'll feel the spinning again.

The more you get it, the more anxious it makes you if you're like me anyway: So, then the "anxiety kind" of dizziness (floor feels mushy or you feel unsteady all the time . . . .) hits. SO, it sounds like it's both.

Have you had the hearing tests that determine if you've LOST any hearing??? I assume you have since you've been through so many tests. ENT's do it. From what I remember, hearing LOSS in either ear is how they term "Menier's" I never had any loss, in fact, my hearing became super sensitive, and still is to a large degree today. That is liveable, though. That humming and echoing I used to have could have driven me nuts.

When you go back on the 18th, tomorrow? ASK about BPPV, and don't leave without him referring you to an ENT who deals with it or a qualified physical therapist who can do this SIMPLE Epley Maneuver. I cannot understand why he hasn't suggested it already. It's NON-INVASIVE and cheap!
