labrynthitis? - Inner Ear Disorders Message Board

hi all,
i have been told by my doc. that i have labrynthitis,
but does anyone out there with it, get this dizzy feeling , rocking sensation, regardless of being still.
i have had no tests done. have been given meds. but they dont have any effect. i have 4 children and am finding it very difficult. getting depressed.
can anyone relate to this pleeeeeeeaaaaaase.

Yes, the rocking sensation is more noticible when sitting still. It is kind of like the feeling you get when you get off a Merry Go Round or an amusement park ride.

Hi Brina,
I have had labyrinthitis. Yes, the rocking feeling even when you are sitting still is very common with lab. It is really horrible, isn't it? All I can say to you is that it will go away. Mine started in November and I would say it is only in the last month that I have seen major improvements in the dizziness. Hang in there - I really know how you feel - I promise you it will eventually go - but how long I can't say. How long have you had it? Some people get over it within a week, others a few months. And as you can see from this board there are a few of us that are taking months. But looking back I was MUCH WORSE a few months ago. Hope this helps.

Make sure you get plenty of rest, eat healthy, drink a lot of water, take vitamens, and garlic or garlic supplements must have Allicin in them... (garlic is very anti viral) and try not to let it get you too down. Stress lowers the immune system too. I think that anything you do to try and boost your body's efficiency is really important in recovery. Welcome to the club, sorry its not a very fun club.-Gwen

hi all,
thanks to all who have replied,
my symptoms started gradually, building up to my all the time moving sensations this has been over about 1 month. but i have had no other symptoms before hand , such as a cold or flu. the only thing i can put it down to , maybe is that i went through the euro tunnel
which caused ear pressure and pain... but i have had this before with no after effects. also my daughter had a terrible flu about 2 months ago. but i never caught it. instead of it coming on "wham" i started with a feeling that my glasses were not focusing properly. and i have felt very nauseas. can lab. start like that?
i also find it harder to use the computer as looking close makes me feel dizzier .
anyone suffer great anxiety with it. im so tense all the time.
