I have gotten anxiety in October in the result of a date rape. I only got the Labrynthitis in January. I have been told by two other people who have anxiety that they got it in the result of a problem or death of a loved one. Everyone is different. One of my close friends had it for 6 months after her husband left her with no reason or note. And returned after 2 years. She suffered with it so bad she didn't leave the house or drive. But with therapy and self determination she beat it. Doyle- if you are reading this, your anxiety is probably from worring about you losing your hearing. No one wants to lose their hearing or eyesight. I am sure that it is emotional. You said you didn't have stress. But THIS IS THE STRESS!! Having a big change in our lives like this can get someone to feel stressed, depressed, and angry. Why me? Why us. But we have to be strong. I am struggleing along with all of you. We are all working on the same goal: TO FEEL BETTER. We have a lot of support here. Just tell your story. We're listening. d

Hi Darci,

I aggre with you that the stress of the ear disorder
as well as other symptoms have contributed if not caused the anxiety. I only have the anxiety or panic attacks when I am envolved in some activity involving motion. When I am driving for long distances or walking in big open areas and then have to stop, The panic feelings arise and I then feel like I should be still moving.

This past year of having this ear disorder along with anxiety has been fustrating because I always felt that the two were tied together. The feed back that I was receiving from my doctors was that my anxiety was a completely separate issue having nothing to do with my ear, symptoms and feelings.

I am relieved to find a message board with those who have the same symptoms as I do and understand how I feel.

Some argue that vestibular dysfunction can actually be the casue of dizziness/lighheadedness. Check out Dr. Levinson's site on the internet.
