Compensation? - Inner Ear Disorders Message Board

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions...

It's now been 9 weeks that I am sick with labyrinthitis. How do I know if my brain has started the compensation process? I stopped taking medications 3 weeks ago hoping that the compensation process would speed up. I have not noticed any improvement. I am taking antidepressors (Remeron and Paxil). Could those slow down my recovery?

I am scheduled for an ENG in September, 2 days before my wedding day? For those of you who had it, what is it like? Are there any side effects that could make me feel worst on my wedding day? How quickly do we get the results?

Finally, my eyes are always burning, they are super tired. For 9 weeks now, I'v had huge bags under my eyes. I get plenty of sleep. Does anybody else have eyes that feel and look tired?

Hi Sboily,
I have just been dx with Labyrinthitis after suffering a week of dizzness and tiredness. It progressively gets worse as the day goes on. My GP has given me SERC but so far (2 days 8mg) they have not improved the dizziness. Yes my eyes are sore, tired, heavy and puffy bags underneath in the mornings.

You've had this 9 weeks? How long does this thing last?

Hi,

For most people, it lasts 4 to 6 weeks. You might be one of these lucky ones. However, many of the people from this board have had it a long time. I tried the SERC but it did not help me. Is it working for you?

I've officially lost count. I've had it for over 3 months now, I think. I seem to be getting better slowly and haven't seen a doctor since being diagnosed with it. I have good days and bad days. My eyes no longer hurt, but I feel mildy disoriented.

sboilly, are you doing any sort of head and/or eye exercise?

Hi digizen,

Yes, my ENT gave me a list of eye exercises (looking up and down with head still and looking left and right with head still). I do them a few times a day. They don't make me feel to great. Have they helped you?
